In 1966 the Colt 609, or XM177E2 carbine went into production as one of the earliest carbines of its kind to see widespread production and use by American military forces. The XM177 sported a short 10 inch barrel with a beefy 4.5" moderator type flash hider, a 2 position collapsible plastic stock and a fixed carry handle with adjustable rear sight. After 1967 the E1 variant was discontinued and the E2 variant of the XM177 took its place, with a longer 11.5" barrel. The XM177 paved the way for the CAR-15 carbine, and later, the popular M4A1 carbine still in use today.

The G&P XM177E2 Airosft AEG is a fitting homage to its real counterpart. Housed inside of G&Ps period correct aluminum receiver is G&Ps workhorse 8mm Ver.2 gearbox, known for being a solid and reliable gearbox it ensures that your XM177E2 will keep up in the field under any conditions.

About the i5 Gearbox.While the traditional version 2 gearbox has for the most part remained unchanged since its inceptions, small changes have occurred over time, usually as the result of popular user modifications that were then made into factory available options. With input from players and vendors, G&P has released their newest iteration of the Version 2 Gearbox, the G&P i5. While internally similar to their tried and true V2 gearbox, the i5 comes from the factory with a plethora of upgraded components. The i5 is powered by an M140 motor and features 8mm bearings for more robust performance and reliability. The top-down QD spring guide makes spring changes far easier, requiring only the removal of the upper receiver. Also included is an inline MOSFET with electronic trigger and Electronic selector, eliminating sensitive trigger switches and selector plates. The i5 gearbox takes the traditional V2 geabrox and makes it more reliable, robust and user friendly, without sacrificing the performance that players have come to expect from G&P.
