"OK, let me first say I have already filled out an RMA request on this gun. The trigger is strange and does not reset every time. I initially blamed this on my batteries, so I tried first an 8.4, then a 7.4 LIPO, and then a 9.6, and in desperation since I thought I would send it back, an 11. 1 LIPO. It did not seem to burp on the 11.1, but I knew that was overkill, I went back to the 9.6 stick and that seems to work best, I also loosened the motor a bit, and it just shoots better and better. To hell with the RMA, when this thing is shooting I can hit pretty much whatever I aim at, and if you have owned enough airsoft rifles, this is hard to come by. Any person within 100 yards would not stand a chance, and I dont even think I have found the best BB's for it yet, I would have bought this gun when it was selling for 500+ dollars, when it dropped in price, I could not resit, and neither should you if you are reading this, no airsoft gun out of the box is going to out shoot this as far as accuracy, sort of old looking OK, heavy sure, long un-gainly pretty much, but the Tokyo Mauri Pixies farted heavily on this gun, and it shoots! I dont regret this purchase one bit, and this is one gun I do not ever have to upgrade. I just ran through 5 mags without a hiccup, like fine wine, it just needs to age a bit to get the best out of it.
"note, a review from someone who actually bought this gun from evike.com (the best spot to buy stuff)
okay well im gonna say this right off the bat, if you think youre gonna pick this thing up and its gonna outshoot everything and that youll never work on it, you were very wrong... however if you were thinking of buying this on the premise you wanted to totally rebuild it, defy local gun techs, and have a pretty rare-to-see gun, this is all you, but get ready to drop some serious paper.
okay aside from all i said above, this thing stock is nothing out of the ordinary. low stock fps and clattering antiquated ebb make this thing more of a prop than a performer. if you want to make this thing "work" its going to take some serious "blood sweat and tears" but once you get it right, itll be like driving a nice car at your field, many will ask about it and compliment it almost to an annoying level.
what i did with mine was dissassemble some of the ebb related parts in the upper, build up a G3 (v2) gearbox, (youll need a trigger, selector plate, selector switch, and source yourself a discontinued king arms psg-1 grip for the G3, not an m4, a G3) once you get that all in there youll be cooking. or with the king arms grip, you could drop a whole polarstar f/e in it which i later did. still need trigger selector plate and selector switch. you wont be dissapointed
reason i give it 5 stars is its potential when upgraded, and the whole rarity factor. simply biased, take what you can from this review
PROS:
1.- rare
2.-gun serves as a housing to barrels 650mm long
3.-even stock accuracy with a .20 was amazing,
4.- unique operation with v4 gearbox, need to cock weapon once loaded magazine is inserted to feed first round (at least i found that cool)
5.- decent weight for an all plastic gun (kind of pro/con, but id prefer plastic if all parts were metal itd be too heavy)
6.- great looks, collector grade
7.- hk trades and mock serial number
8.- obviously comes with scope, witch has adjustments for windage elevation and clarity at different ranges
9.- scope also has a lens protector on the front, i wouldnt shoot it with another aeg or pistol to test it, but its there
10.- stock is adjustable to shooters comfort
11.- serious range potential
12.- pistol grip is quite cozy on the hand, also an adjustable handrest
CONS:
1.- work and money required to get this thing up to fieldable standards
2.- ength (buddies say i could joust with it) definetly not for small framed shooters.
3.- the plastic construction = unstable barrel, not enough to be like wow but can be tightened up, its pretty solid
4.- v4 gearbox is a nightmare, parts are unavailable (good luck)
5.- saying you plan to keep it an aeg, battery space even for lipos is quite limited
in the end its definetly not a gun for a first time anything. but if you have the patience, time, resources, and money to build this up, its a rewarding experience. it wont happen overnight. if you want a unique/rare gun that you want to fiddle with and make into a project that some will be jealous of, this is just for you. with the setup i got including the polarstar in it and an r hopped barrel using .32g bbs at 470 fps im hitting people at 300' with semi automatic fire.
hope this helped
"One of the finest airsoft guns out there! I"ve had mine since the mid 90's and it's still a performer. Fit and finish is typical Tokyo Marui, which is a good as it gets. The finish gives the impression that this airsoft is full metal. It is of course plastic as most TM guns are but the weight is very convincing. One feature you will love is the blowback effect of the bolt cover when you fire it. There is also a tension release lever that allows you to relax the spring should your last shot end up in mid compressession. This is a long rifle so I wouldn't recommend it for small framed shooters. If you love sniper rifles both as a collector or a player you will want to add this to your stable of guns.
