Intelligent design is at the core, starting with the SALTIGA LD55JP's distinctive profile. It's noticeably taller and narrower than other conventional saltwater reels. Tallness means having an upsized spool with massive line capacity for extremely jigging. The narrowness vastly reduces line piling on the spool to one side or the other. Moreover, it contributes to the inches-per-crank and the power to speed ratio.

The SALTIGA LD55JP's torque and gear stability is remarkable with the reel's massive stainless steel gears. Its gearing yields a 5.2:1 ratio and impressive 46.3-inch line take-up on every crank.

ATD DRAG
Daiwa's Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

DIGIGEAR
Daiwa's first generation of digitally engineered gear design ensures a perfect mesh between ultra-tough drive gear and pinion gears for optimized speed, power, durability and smoothness.

FREE FLOATING SPOOL
Daiwa's unique system floats the spool independently on precision, stainless steel ball bearings. The pinion rides it's own separate shaft, allowing the spool to spin freely, unhampered by gear train friction when casting.
