"Gun works great. Mag does what it is asked but feeds a little to slow for full auto. Only complaint is it is lacking at long range

"Just got my tan A&K m249 para. First look its more 2 tone tan/black than in the pictures but that's a win in my opinion. Not too happy with the delivery time but I'm happy it made it in one functional peace. Evike.com did refund one out of the 2 delivery fees......

"This is a great gun! Only a few complaints and a bit of advice.

This gun isn't for anyone who can't carry heavy weight. It is quite heavy.
The Box mag has a selector switch on the bottom,
Which is a terrible location for it. If you set the gun down too rough or bump the bottom on something it can break the switch. Then you have to buy a brand new one or rewire the box to sound only.
I suggest upgrading the piston. The one it comes with is plastic, and if you throw an 11.1v in it like it should have, then it will strip. Get a used metal one and you'll be all set.
You can probably run this over with a car and it won't break the internals - though I don't suggest trying.
Note: this gun is full auto only, so if you play at a field that sometimes runs semi-mod only, be prepared to shoot bursts.
This is a great 'anti-Cheater" gun. If they don't call their hits, you have plenty of ammo to throw a few extra bbs their way!!

"This is a really cool gun, great at suppressing enemy players and covering advances. It is HIGHLY customizable, and there ate few flaws. The only down side is one of my gears lost a tooth, and I cannot find a replacement gear anywhere! I can only find a whole new gearbox. If anyone knows where to get new gears please post a link.

"I love this thing, tough for the price I ran into more problems that I expected.

Pros
1. Rate of Fire
2. Realistic weight
3. Versatility
4. Externals built very well
5. Can take M4 mags if you wanted to
6. Box mag is amazing, I've ran it through about 3 games and 5 mags total, also dropped it a few times and still working, haven't had a single problem
7. Gear box exterior is well built, also you can take the piston spring out before unscrewing the gearbox so it doesn't explode when you unscrew it
8. Gear box is easily taken out with three screws, then easily slides out the back
9. With the awesome automatic mag you could hold down the trigger, but keep it to a maximum of 30 second burst, unless you keep around a lot of spare fuses...

Cons
1. The motor broke in the middle of the first game, the connection snapped and it burnt through two fuses, replace the motor right away to save you a game
2. Since some models they put the battery in the fore grip it comes off during games and it's quite annoying, I fixed that with gorilla glue.
3. Plastic flash hider, not really a big problem but it takes away from the intimidation
4. The charging handle has a spring in it so you charge it like an M4 which was weird, though I don't have that much of a problem with it.
5. Though it rarely happens sometimes the box mag will fallout of the connection though it will still shoot, and it still works

"The A&K m249 para is an excellent support weapon for those looking for a reasonably reliable, cheap gun that will send large amounts of bbs downrange. It does have some slight problems however, for example: the electrical switch that operates the trigger is a bit too long, and thus the gun will runaway fire. The fix is simple, one can either replace it with a better switch, or bend/cut the last few mms off the metal plate. Besides this small problem, it is a great gun.

The box mag, however, is not nearly as good. It's auto winding mic is horribly mounted, causing it to break immediately. This means you must get a pressure switch, or attempt to play with the tiny switch in order to get the magazine to feed. Furthermore, the metal feed tubes can cause pellets to jam, causing more problems. Even so, one can replace the tubes, and purchase a switch. The m249 also accepts m4 magazines, meaning one can simply use m4 mags instead. I personally recommend G&P polymer m4 midcaps, as they feed really well into the m249.

Pros:
Inexpensive light machine gun
lighter than many other machine guns
very reliable with limited modification
Easy to upgrade, there are a lot of parts available compatible with the m249

Cons:
heavier than an m4 (not great for those who aren't prepared to run with the weapon
trigger mechanism can cause runaway fire
box mag is often unreliable

"If you're a support gunner and you don't own one of these, you're gonna have a bad time. This gun is a BEAST. From my experience, the gearbox is stellar quality, but it needs a few minor adjustments. I personally installed an o-ring air seal nozzle (m4 type, and yes it'll work,) 509 mm Madbull 6.03 tightbore barrel (improves accuracy (debatable) and definitely adds range,) a REAPS bucking for improved range and accuracy (needs a bit of fine tuning to shoot straight,) a steel tooth strip polycarb piston (optional; the stock one lasted me 6 freaking months while running an m120. Link to steel piston: http://www.evike.com/products/30044/,) an m120 or m125 spring (the stock spring snapped after 2 months,) a bore-up cylinder, metal cylinder head, and piston head (http://www.evike.com/products/49122,) a lipo battery (optional, but recommended,) and MOST IMPORTANTLY, IF YOU USE A LIPO, GET A MOSFET (i recommend the MERF mosfet made by gate: http://www.evike.com/products/44781)

My only complaint is that the body is made of a softer metal (zinc alloy,) so the sockets for the screws get stripped real easy. Also, when taking the stock off, don't remove the pins in the stock (it'll wear down the stock over time). Instead, remove the whole stock assembly by removing the fat pin on the back of the receiver and the threaded pin just above it. Be very careful when removing screws, and make sure not to over tighten when putting them back in. Also, you should definitely get at least one MAG brand box mag. The stock box mag features sound control, but the winding mechanism jams far too often. The only other products I'd suggest are an upper RIS (http://www.evike.com/products/25789/) and a new motor (I personally love the lonex series). Just make sure if you do get a new motor that it's short type, because it won't fit otherwise.

After that huge list of parts is installed, you'll probably have spent around 500-600 dollars on this gun, but it's well worth the money. My gun personally shoots 420-430 FPS at 22 RPS with a range of around 190 ft, weighs around 17 pounds fully loaded, and best of all the gun itself has literally never jammed on me after almost a year of use (only the original box mag has).

Pros:
Great gearbox shell
Excellent bushings
Excellent gear set
Decent motor
Solid construction
Large stock = a lot of room for a battery
Great ROF with mosfet and lipo
Low maintenance
Quick release barrel

Cons:
Soft metal body construction
Absolutely NO accuracy without a REAPS bucking
Poor air seal with stock piston head
HEAVY (17 lbs when fully loaded)
Crappy box mag construction
BB usage :P

All in all a great gun after you put a little extra money in it, definitely recommend if you're a support gunner or are thinking of becoming one. I gave it 4 stars because of the mediocre box mag and the poor stock accuracy, but otherwise it's absolutely phenomenal. I absolutely love this thing!

"The A&K M249 is a support weapon but slight problems with mine. The main being that my outter has become and I am not sure how to fix it or if it can be fixed. Also, over time that the stock will become loose and you will have to go back and tighten that every once and while. Everything else with the gun is ok with me. I give it 8/10.

"This gun is an amazing gun for a player that doesn't move around a lot but if you like to move around you might want to some how attach a fore grip because this gun is really heavy. Besides the fact that it's heavy I think that the metal body makes this gun more durable and the built in bipod is pretty good too.
Pros
Metal body
Box mag holds a lot of bbs
Realistic weight

Cons
It's heavy
No tac rail included
by Ben P. on 03/10/2013
"Had this gun for a while now and over all its a pretty good gun.

Pros
Plenty of ammo
durable
almost real world weight
easy to upgrade

Cons
Range
power
trigger sticks (easy to fix if you know how to work an allen wrench)
by Daniel D. on 08/07/2012
"i absolutely love this gun, it handles great but the hop up is terrible, some gas pistols easily out ranged me :( but onece i bought a new hop up (30$) this gun works like a charm, its still shooting at 500fps with .2s im not sure why, its all stock.

pros:
great durability
full metal
looks menacing
tons of rail space
box mag included
great ROF
really high FPS (might just be mine)
m4 highcaps feed really well
gives me a workout when i carry this thing arround my feild XD
heavy(con for some)

cons:
terrible battery location
bad hop-up
AMMO HOG!
my top receiver wont open so i have to use an allen key to push my hop up, or take the whole barrel Assembly out

overall i give this gun a 4/5 because you will need to replace the hop up, wich will cost you an extra 30$ but dont hesitate to buy this gun it is amazing an i have no regrets on buying this gun :D
by Tyler T. on 07/10/2012
"Not too bad of a gun overall. im glad i bought it. i bought this one because it was on sale and i always liked LMGs. Heres what i think about it...

Pros
-Heavy realistic weight
-nice adjustable iron sights
-very high quality externals
-accuracy with .25s is very consistent
-quick detach barrel
-grip included

Cons
-Heavy after use all day, front has most of the weight( so for rightys, your left arm will feel sore after a long game)
-Hop up is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! really seems to limit the range potential on the gun (my main issue i have when using this gun in matches)
-Bad battery location, i recommend buying a cheap peq external battery box, it helps a lot
-No battery included like on A&K m249 series
-Putting the box mag in can be irritating

Overall:
a unique alternative to the plain m249. youll get lots of looks and compliments while you scare the other team when this thing gets going. if you buy this, get a 9.6v battery and a basic peq external battery box. overall shoots at a good ROF and is accurate, but i give this a 4/5 because the range on it is not the best (an mp5k out ranged me the first time i used it)
by Jonathon D. on 05/14/2012
"Ok so to start it's a good gun, I've skirmished it and trust me when i say get a 9.6v battery it helps... A LOT!

Pros:
Metal construction
A lot of RIS
2500 round drum magazine
Comes with a front grip
Space for a big battery
Sights are very nice
Quick detach barrel
Very realistic

Cons:
Bipod is somewhat crappy, on mine it somewhat chipped so the bipod doesn't fully stay in the down position
Allen screws are in the metric system
No front sling mount
No battery
M4 mags jam
No carrying handle

Suggestions:
A battery box would be AMAZING! I happen to own one and it helps big time.
A scope (i suggest a 4x scope) helps

Overall:
A good gun which performed well for me, and will for you. It's FPS is about 380, the drum magazine will last you a couple of hours and is very nice. So overall it's a good gun, I will say thought it has room to improve, but is defiantly good. Thanks for your time and have a good day.

"I got this gun gun about a week ago and I am impressed, the range and fps is decent. Now the one thing I did not like was the battery location, its located under the rails in the front. I myself could not figure out how to get the bottom open but I did manage to get the connector up to the top. I tested it with a tenergy 9.6 1600 mah nunchuck battery, it did well and gave it a good ROF but would recommend a 7.4 or if you wanna go crazy and test its limits a 11.1 lipo. The box mag that comes with it isnt all that great but its useable, and standard m4 mags can be used though they dont feed all that well.

Pros:
Good ROF
Good FPS
Realistic weight
Good range
Intimidating look
Takes M4 mags

Cons:
Heavy (not for small players unless you just want it)
BAD battery location
2200 mah nunchuck battery that is recommended is hard to find.
Box mag can be a hassle and M4 mags do not feed to well

"This gun is great i got it a while ago and at first i had some issues but it's overall a great support weapon that i think every team or individual looking for a great support gun should get. this is the buy for you completely worth the price which isn't that much considering the only upgrades you might need to put in is a new tight bore inner barrel.
Pros:
-Great construction completely metal except for the parts on the real SAW which are high quality polmer plastic.
-Battery compartment is very spacious but thin so you won't have to much rattling
Easy too upgrade
-Very realistic except for magazine that holds more than 2500rounds
Cons:
-Magazine came in poor wiring condition(very easy fix)
-accuracy could be a bit better but hey your a gunner what do you need precision for(upgrades cheap here on Evike!)
-Front sight is hard to find anywhere and i lost mine in the first war...
Overall great gun i think A&K out did themselves this time.
