"To begin, I'm very Biased to Arcturus and have been since I discovered them. I use AEGs strictly, I don't have ANY HPA guns so I like to think that I know what I'm looking for in an AEG airsoft gun. If you're familiar with anything made by Arcturus, you should probably be expecting high quality right out of the box and this one is no exception. I purchased the Carbine version of the Sword Mod 1, slapped a red dot on that thing, and adjusted the hopup. Using .28s it EASILY hits 150 feet, wind not withstanding. It shoots at a pretty consecutive 1.45 to 1.47 Joules which is right on the limit for the field I go to. The single most important thing about any AEG I get, that I've found Arcturus is able to produce, is to give the BBs the ability to shoot far, shoot straight and shoot fast, all without touching the internals. I can long range shoot with this thing, but that may not be the case if you get one of the shorter options, since inner barrel length has as much of an effect on range and accuracy, as how tight the barrel does. It comes with a 6.02mm Inner barrel which is the norm for Arcturus. Their mosfet (in-line, non programmable) allows me to squeeze off shots in quick succession. Works great with a Titan 7.4 Li-On battery. Haven't tried the 11.1 and honestly, I don't see the need to either. The stock is their new design and it works great, just turn the nob on the butt plate counterclockwise 45 degrees and the compartment opens up but stays attached so you wont lose it. There's plenty of space. I have two 7.4 Titan batteries in the stock, one in each channel, those tubes on either side of the stock.

In terms of the Arcturus AK04's performance, I used that as a baseline when judging the Sword Mod 1 and honestly, they both match. The only thing the AK04 does better is have a higher joule output, since the spring is also slightly more powerful. However, they both accomplish my need to hit long range and be deadly accurate. At first I was worried that the Nylon Receiver wouldn't be super durable. I actually ended up dropping it my first day on the field with it and it was just fine. I still wouldn't recommend doing that too often but the Nylon isn't as weak as I feared, and it's definitely doesn't feel like it was cheaply made. It also decreases the overall weight of the gun which is awesome. I've fully kitted this thing out with a red dot, a peq box, some pic rails, a foregrip and a suppressor and it's still a lot less bulkier than the AK04 is without any attachments.

If you have any doubts, take it from somebody who owns 3 different Arcturus models, they work WONDERFULLY. They never seem to disappoint, and they come with internal upgrades out of the box at least $100 cheaper than other brands who just put a stock gun together. It performs so much better than the Krytac Warsport LVOA-S I had which retails at about $400, shot farther, more accurately, and just felt better in every regard. The gun slaps and Arcturus has nailed this one.

"It's a great buy, and it earned an 8/10. My concerns are with the integrity of the motor and the gearbox. After a few months of use, the gun became locked in burst and full auto. I opened it, and the selector spring had just flung off at one point, and a screw holding the gearbox together just broke out of its threads. It's an excellent base to build on, but upgrade the GB and motor ASAP.
