"Very surprised by this little beast...

-Shoots just as far and hard as a full sized AEG.
-GREAT for CQB
-Small and Compact

HOWEVER:

-The battery storage space could have been designed a little better... maybe inside the barrel chamber with the cooling vent holes...
-The High caps it comes with require a LOT of winding between shots (I personally hate hi cap mags)
-No threads
-No rails (unless you jerry-rig some picatinny rails through the vent holes along the outer barrel, something I've been thinking about doing)

Beside those cons, I still give the gun a 5 star for what it is. You should know what you are getting yourself into based on the description of this gun. It is FANTASTIC. I really just wish they would release the Mid Cap mags already, I know they are working on them, but I wish they were here now... (8/12/15)

"PROS:
*Loud.
*Metal, other materials are strong and durable.
*ROF is good even with the stock 8.4v battery.
*Extremely lightweight, perfect for CQB.
*TWO Magazines, not one but two come with it.
*Comes with a durable front-grip which also serves as your battery compartment.
*Iron Sights are good.
*Magazines are strong and durable.

CONS:
*Battery is extremely hard to fit into the grip, took me 30 minutes of raging before I finally got it in.
*Loud (I personally like that it's loud but others may not.)
*Thumbscrew for the grip is on pretty tight, you'll need to wear a glove to get it off to avoid scraping skin or blisters for the first time.
*Comes with stock charger, better off getting a smart charger.
*In the Echo1 video they said it came with a LiPo battery, this is false. It comes with a stock 8.4v china battery.

"the charging handle is abit sensitive but that wouldn't matter, the problem is when my mag release fell out and I'm unable to find a replacement one, its pretty good but you should use it as a secondary or something

"Incorrect FPS ratings.

Let me start off by saying that this is a great gun. If you want a small gun and not feel restricted by the length oif your DMR then this is the gun for you. However, the FPS ratings for this gun are false, it actually shoots around 375 with .20g BBs. The actual FPS was too high for my local field an I imagine will be too high for most fields. It's not an overlay big deal but there is no QC spring system, so in order to change the spring I've got to take the gearbox apart.

"the gat and subsequent gat-x are an amazing gun very solid no wiggle better construction than many other guns of the same price point or greater the main gripe I have is with the stock on the gat-X the battery is house still in the fore grip and would have loved to see it wired to the rear in the stock on the gat-x model but im sure that can me fixed with a simple mod. unfortunately the evike page has the specifications for the Ver.1 of this gun and not the improved Ver.2 which can be identified by the barrel caps Ver.1 being a plain cap and ver.2 being more a kin to a thread cap which on the ver.2 is a thread cap unlike ver.1 it does have a threaded barrel bit the cap is glued on so good luck trying to get it off , aswell the gun does have full semi and safe unlike the listing having only semi and full.
overall 9/10 gun but 10/10 for its price point would highly recommend

"Decent gun the biggest problem is the hi cap mags suck and u. Need to wind them up a thousand times. Much heavier than it looks. Recommend buying several of the mid cap mags and the lipo battery

"This gun has its ups and downs but for the price it is good overall.

Pros:
High suppression capabilities.
Has good weight and feel to it.
Compact and if you are strong enough, you can practically use it as a side arm.
Composition of the gun feels good.
Can take a beating in the field.
Has yet to jam for me and I have had it for at leadt two years.
High mobility
Hop up is very easy to access

Cons:
Eats through ammo.
Battery compartment is way to small.
The batrery the originally gave me crapped out and I had to get a more powerful one.
When you hold down your single fire are certain angles it goes full auto.
Not many mounts for attachments.
Is inaccurate at medium to longer ranges.
Iron sights are basically garbage
Wiring for gun seemed a bit loose when I got it.
Pins seem to be getting loose with the amount of time I have had it.
Make sure magazines are in place and secure, the have never fallen out for me but I can see how they might.

The way I run the gun is pretty simple. I got a PEQ box for my battery on my gun. Doesn't fit perfectly but it does the job. Drum mag is a must for the gun because You Will run out of rounds quickly. This gun is very good for rushing, and suppression. It has capabilities to be used with a riot shield but I haven't bought or made my shield yet (will be doing that). I use this at short ranges to medium ranges and it does me well.

"best sidearm for my sniper thus far. if you run 11.1v, don't use a 30c, because for some reason, semi goes full auto, yet my old 20c works just fine.

the good:
-small form factor
-lightweight
-works fine with a 7.4
-possible mod to install lipo inside the shroud, eliminating the front grip.

the bad:
-larger than normal accuracy difference between semi and auto
-magazine sometimes jams
-mag releases too easily. best grip by the mag when running with it.

the ugly:
-proprietary hop up assembly with no current upgrades yet available.
-you can't wind the mag too tight (causes jams), so constant winding is required.

"The aptly named 'GAT'

Modeled after the KG-9/TEC-9 sub-gun, the GAT or General Assault Tool is perfect for CQB or any close range fighting; even maybe a back up for a sniper. Mine chrono'd between 308-315 with .25s and firing away with a Burst Wizard verified 22 rounds per second when powered by an 11.1v LiPo.

Good weight and heft to it as the upper is metal and the lower receiver is polymer. Can easily be one handed or shot sideways!

Hop is easy to adjust and accessed by pulling the charging handle. Speaking of charging handle, it is the ONLY let down of the Echo 1 GAT. It is made of very light plastic and a very weak return spring. There is no satisfying cocking sound or feel at all. I guess Echo 1 had to cut corners somewhere.

Battery is housed inside the fore grip and takes a little bit of getting used to get a battery installed. While the fore grip doesn't detract too much from the GAT's looks, its not very ergonomic when firing. I use a PTS EPF instead.

Range is definitely better than a pistol but I would not go as far as saying the GAT can match other AEGs in terms of range. Its a short barreled SMG and its intended for close ranges. My MP5 easily outranges the GAT with better shot groupings.

GAT comes with 2 high caps but aren't very good. At full auto its probably only good for 30 rounds before needed to be wounded up to full click. Anything less than that, the magazine would not feed.

Pistol sights aren't very useful and there are no rails for a red dot sight. No provisions for a stock either like the real thing, But hey, it is what it is: a point-and-shoot gat!

GET IT:

-- Because you want a better back up for sniping than a pistol
-- Because you want a specific look. Face it, its gangsta.
-- its LiPo ready, use a LiPo. Anything less its not worth it.
-- Get mid caps.
-- Its LOUD

DONT GET IT:

-- If you think it can go up against M4's.

"This gun is an absolute CQB monster!!! Fielded it for the first time this past sunday and holy crap I owned the field. Super compact design allows you to hardly ever give away your position before turning a corner while other players running m4's are sticking their gun barrels out all over the place. Easy pickins for this gun. Could also easily see this being a great secondary for a sniper or DMR role player for outdoor use. Only downsides are that it is an extremely loud gun and hop up is very sensitive and difficult to finely tune. But for indoor CQB usage you won't really be shooting outside of 50 feet so it really doesn't matter to me. Battery compartment is a b*tch to work with also

Pros
Compact
Accurate
Easily wielded with one hand.
Could easily replace a pistol
Lipo ready
Can attach an m4 buffer tube stock with no modding of the gun, just the buffer tube you use.
Cheap
Comes with a lot more than your standard aeg package.
It's that gun from Big Trouble In Little China (Kurt Russel's Gun)

Cons
Loud (could be a plus if you're into that, I'm into stealth so con for me)
Hopup very sensitive and hard to dial in precisely
Battery compartment sux with supplied battery
No rail space except for fore grip which is required for the battery (so no rail space)
Proprietary hopup/barrel assembly and gearbox (but gearbox does take most standard parts.

4 Stars because of the cons

"Pros-
-Full auto, semi-auto, and safety settings
-metal doesn't feel cheep, neither does the plastic
-ROF even with a 8.4v battery is impressive (small tamiya connectors)
-comes with a hollow forward grip for the battery
-lightweight, and nicely balanced
-comes with two mags (this display on Evike about the specs is so wrong in hurts)

Cons-
- it is probably the loudest aeg I've ever come into contact with
-takes some practice to get the battery in
-the way it is wired make the wires press hard against the heat shield so that it pinches the wire, I highly recommend using electrical tape to protect both the gun and battery wiring

Overall- if you are looking for a compact smg that shoots a laser of bbs and wont burn a gaping whole in your wallet, get this

"POSITIVES:
+It's a gat
+Comes with TWO mags
+Comes with battery AND charger

NEGATIVES:
-Does not fire quite as fast as expected
-The handle is where the battery goes; stock the grip is required
-Battery/stock is VERY unfun to put on the gun
-Ugly AEG sound (Nut big soup rice)

SUMMARY:
Overall, not a big fan of this gun. I personally would rate it 2/5 but the gun really isn't that bad. I simply do not like how difficult the battery grip is to put together on the gun. Everything wants to spill out and not fit. That and the god-awful whiney AEG sound makes this gun feel more toyish than usual. Honestly if it just used a stick battery that fit in the barrel stock, like the KG-9, it would be a whole lot better. Keep in mind I'm not a huge AEG fan so take this review with a grain of salt. Actual performance of this gun is great in terms of accuracy but the firerate is just a tad slow for my taste. At least it has select fire.

"BEWARE:
The battery is literally the most aggravating thing to install In this gun.

The battery that comes with it from echo1. I don't even see how someone can get it to fit.

I'm sitting here for 45 min tryna put a small 7.4 in it and getting so frustrated.

I'm not the most savvy with this stuff. But as a beginner if you want something you can easily and quickly get it ready. Get something where the battery goes in the stock.

The sights are so small I can't even look down them without laying my face sideways on the gun with stock all the way out. Which is sad because I wanted to keep this as minimal as possible. (NO red dots).

"Gun over feeds, jams up must remove mag to fire out the 3 stuck bbs, can’t adjust hop up the shoot straight, mag spring unwinds when inserted in magwell, wish I would of bought something different
by Noah D. on 03/18/2017
"So to start, most people who get this gun get it to mod it, and use its parts, which is cool and all, but if you wanna use the gun for itself like I do, this is the run down of what youre gonna wanna know:

Pros
-High fire rate, even with non LiPo
-Really loud, imo really cool
- very sturdy, easy to mod
-hits hard, and once you fix any problems you may have, is very accurate

Cons
-Not very great out of the box, Hi-caps that come with it wont feed the last 30 or so bullets
-Over hops heavily with the mad-bull bucking, I upgraded to the G&G weather resistant bucking, which works much better: http://www.evike.com/products/36022/
-hopup is basically non existent, with it turned "up" its just on, and if you turn it "down" the bbs roll out the end of the barrel. Its basically pre adjusted, with just an on or off switch.
-Battery front grip kinda takes away from the tec-9 look, although modding it to put battery in barrel is elementary work

OVERALL when you fix the issues the gun becomes very reliable and extremely fun to use, but depending on how well your bucking was put in/was molded in the factory you may need to buy a different one. I find that Mad-bull buckings are better fit for snipers and using .4s and dealing with heavy springs, its just too thick for this tiny barrel and gun. The hop up is also pretty dumb, and I dont even know how to fully work it yet. Seems like its just "on" or "off", will keep you posted. Overall, good gun and very cool looking, but not without its quirks. Easy fixes, just annoying.
