"I purchased three hours of custom tech service to make a custom high trigger response build. The techs work with the EPS team (Evike Performance Shop) to ensure I had a viable build. The service itself at best is 3 stars or lower. Communication was a huge issue for me. If you get this service, make sure to unmark [email protected] as not spam as some email providers mark it as spam including mine. I use Hotmail and I never received the first few emails from the tech which caused my order to be cancelled and ultimately delayed for at least a week as I had to reorder everything. I feel like the tech team should have emailed me using a different email address or called me after a couple of days of no reply. Another issue I had was the tech department can’t swap out parts in your build if they are not compatible only the sales department can do that. Sales got my order wrong a couple of times even after the tech department wrote notes on what to exactly swap out which caused further delays on my build. Granted that this is a sales department issue and not a tech issue, but I feel communication could have been a little bit better between the two departments. I ordered this build on Feb 5th and it arrived on February 27th. A little over 3 weeks later!
Furthermore, I was given questionable advice and recommendations. I was told that the parts I ordered had a too high ROF for any magazine to feed however there are plenty of videos on YouTube where people are running DSGs and Polar Stars with ROFs of 40+ and having little to no feeding issues. On my build, I had an Action Army highspeed 75k motor and Prometheus 13:1 highspeed gears but I had to exchange them for an Action Army 45k motor and Prometheus 18:1 standard gears. I was also told the current piston head I have was creating too much drag which to me sounds like my gun would have a low ROF since it can’t cycle as fast? I was also told that having low ratio gears and a highspeed motor would not even pull a spring rated for 350fps. I thought this was odd as I have friends and read on forums that this was possible. Especially if the motor I'm getting is $75 and has neodymium magnets. This is why I was recommended the 18:1 gear set, however the gun I bought already came with 18:1 gears so I didn't see why I had to get the expensive Prometheus 18:1 gears. The tech told me it was because they were more durable and sounded better however after comparing the stock Krytac gears and Prometheus gears they were both made from CNC heat-treated steel, so I don't see how they are more durable. I bought them anyway as I'm not a tech, so I just assumed they knew better.
It seems the techs at Evike favor reliability over performance and that's why they wanted to lower the performance of my gun in favor of increasing reliability and longevity which is alright by me because I also highly value reliability. However, this was not the case at all. I took it out for the following weekend to play and it broke on me towards the end of the day. I could not have my local tech work on it as it would void the 45 day warranty, so I had to send it back for a RMA request which took roughly took 1 week to get done and shipping took two weeks in total. That doesn’t include the 1 week it took discussing the RMA with [email protected]. It is now March 24th and I just received my gun back. I just tested my gun and it seems to be working well and the performance matches what was said on the test sheet they gave me. They told me they replaced my bucking, gears and tappet plate but did not specify if it were the same upgraded parts I ordered with the gun. These replacements were free of charge. I will have to call in or email Evike to see if the same parts. Also the warranty sticker on the gearbox was broken and not replaced so if it breaks again and I have to send it back, it looks like I tinkered with the gearbox and it could potentially void my warranty. I am probably rating the service a lot higher than it should be rated but there is always the possibility that it could have been a manufacturing issue with the parts I ordered and I would hate to dock points for something outside the techs control.
