" This is an absolutely gorgeous rendering of the Army's newest SDMR M110-A1. No shortcuts at all on the externals. Materials, dimensions, coloring, function of all parts...absolutely top notch. It's a thing that must be held to fully appreciate. After firing it, chronoing it, and making some minor upgrades, I think a realistic review of the internals is in order. Unless the springs in these have been changed since Evike's description of the gun, it does not shoot a 'whopping' 460 fps with .20g BBs, the equivalent of 1.9 joules, plus or minus. Mine chronoed at 1.5 joules, or 400fps with .2's. It also could not lift .32's no matter how much hop I applied. So immediately I swapped the spring, which is very easy via the quick change spring guide by simply unscrewing the buffer tube from the back of the receiver, and put in an M150 spring. The rotary hop unit (which is plastic...really? For 900 bucks?) is easily removed by removing the front receiver take down pin and sliding the upper receiver forward. (Do not try to remove the rear receiver pin, it's for looks only and doesn't come out.) I put in a Maple Leaf silicone bucking and concave nub. After these easy and modest changes I re-chronoed the gun and checked accuracy. It's now clocking 2.65 joules with hop set, about 2.8 joules with no hop. The Maple Leaf bucking is making a huge difference and it's lifting .4's out to about 175 feet. The Gate Aster mosfet is very satisfactory with good trigger response, and is factory set at Safe-Semi-Semi. So with minor tweeks, this gun is already producing high FPS and accuracy. Of note are the magazines. They do not feed well and I discovered that there's hardly any spring tension in any of the 4 I bought. To solve this problem I removed the bottom plates by lifting the front edge with a very thin flat screwdriver and sliding them back. This allows the internals to be removed and a section of the faux follower spring sticker is peeled back to access the internal spring access. Remove this, pull out the spring and stretch it, but don't over do it. This creates some strength to the spring's ability to push the BB's. It was the weakest spring tension I've ever seen in a mid cap mag. I explain all this because there's nothing on the internet about these magazines, and there are no alternatives. Overall I would rate the externals as a 10, and the internals at about 7 to 8. If VFC would do what Arcturus is doing on their internals, they would have the best AEG's on the market.
" Grab one before they’re discontinued. You will NOT regret it.
Externals:
10/10
Internals:
9/10
Throw an aftermarket 417 HopUp unit in. It’s accurate stock with .28s, but the HopUp will get you shooting straighter.
Smexiness:
10/10
It’s a head turner at your local field for sure.
" Grabbed two of these beauties as I knew they'd move fairly quick. Especially amongst the collector crowd. Performance out the box is pretty standard VFC. While the externals are also standard VFC, this is where they shine. This a gorgeous replica. Fit and finish is top notch. Dropping the mock bolt is oh so satisfying as well. Like, GBBR levels of satisfying.
I immediately swapped out the stock barrel for a lambda 6.01mm TBB, flat hopped it, and dropped in a longer M120 spring for consistency. She can lift 0.36g and 0.40g BBs with relative ease. Though, 0.40g is its max as the gearbox uses standard V2 gearbox components and the lack of air volume is its limiting factor. Once I tire of its current performance or break something, I will surely HPA it.
