"Do you guys know where the battery goes?
by Ryan C. on 11/02/2024
"Impressive… MOST Impressive…
Picked up the 7” Gridlok Lite 350fps BLUE version for my son. He’s been playing a bit at the rental field and I figured it was time for his own. Got this while it was on an Epic deal and had a $20 off coupon so it was under $215 shipped, a great deal for a “starter gun”
Opening the box… WOW talk about an impressive scene. The Black and Blue color scheme work great and has a “higher end” look to it. The Rifle has a solid and well built feel to it. The receivers are tight and fitted great, everything seems to be torqued down property with no loose parts. The 7” version is the perfect size for a 11yro. The length from muzzle to the end of the buttstock is just the right length. As he grows he can change the little claw tooth stock to a traditional one for some added length. But for now this is perfect. to put it in perspective… the 10” CQB Arcturus is too long on the barrel end and the stock even in its collapsed position is still too long for the kid.
The colored parts look sharp and have the Strike branding on them. The colors are all consistent and like others have said they do not match what you see on screen. They are a bit Paler but still very vivid. It’s almost a tad subdued. They are not shiny and match the Black receivers in tone (matte) The ambi mag release is very nice and fully functional, however the mag that comes with it is a bit wobbly. I’ll have to try it with some other mags. The charging Handel is functional and pulls the mock bolt back to drop the bolt door and expose the Hop up adjustments (hop up is plastic). To close the bolt, just press the color accented bolt release and you’re good to go. It’s important to note that the Tip of the barrel comes right to the edge of the hand guard on this model. so the tip of the barrel threads are INSIDE the hand guard. On a LIVE FIRE rifle this is a no no since the blast from the break will most likely be in your hand. However for an airsoft rifle it’s acceptable. This set up would make for a nice mock suppressor set up or even the Strike Oppressor muzzle device. Maybe a nice tracer unit. The buffer tube looks a little on the slim size, but i think a shorter stick 1000mAh Matrix should fit nicely or an Evike “tube” battery will fit as well.
We will be taking this out to shoot this week and test it out, waiting on the Batteries to get here. Speaking of batteries, I must have miss read the specs, i was under the impression that this could Run a 11.1 LIpo however all spec sheets say 7.4 LIpo. I’ll do a little more research but i think we’re stuck with the 7.4. If anyone knows otherwise please let me know.
more info to follow after we get a chance to shoot it!
First impressions are good so far!!

"Nice gun but took me a while to find where the battery goes
by Corey M. on 04/03/2024
"Took a flyer on this out of curiosity (no other reviews thus far), and with the added incentive of an epic deal sale price. Bottom line is that I think this gun is a great buy at the sale price point because of the quality and fit of the externals, and while it isn't exactly competition ready internally IMO, it gets the job done. Read on if you want a bunch of details that were lacking in description and further context for my opinion.
I'm a big fan of strike industries and this AEG certainly does not disappoint in the aesthetics department. For starters this is a full metal AEG. Rail and sights are identical in quality and fit to the EMG/G&P variants that generally come at a higher price point. The 6MMPro version has a more matte finish on the upper and lower receiver, which I actually prefer. I also prefer the hinged door style motor grip compared to the bracket & cover style on the EMG. My only complaints externally are the not so adjustable, adjustable stock and the lack of a quick change spring accessible upper receiver (the gearbox shell is QSC).
My gripe with the stock (or lack there of) is poor battery space. This AEG uses a traditional buffer tube washer and bolt to connect to the spring guide, so there is barely enough space for a 1000MAH 11.1 Lipo. It does fit, but its a struggle compared to the EMG variant, which has more room as a result of the strike industries clamp and set screw style connection. I do like the buffer tube trademarks and while very wobbly, I don't really mind the mini clip on stock (also made of metal). It looks cool, just not very functional. If you want to run a bigger battery, consider a stubby style full stock or something that fits crane stock batteries as an upgrade. Personally I plan to swap the motor for a brushless to extend battery run time and just cram a 1000 or 900mah 11.1 in there.
Regarding the lack of a QSC compatible upper receiver, it completely negates the point of have a QSC gearbox shell. Anyone with a reasonable set of tech skills can open and close a gearbox shell under tension (if you can't don't take your gearbox out of your gun lol). So If I have to take the gearbox out of the AEG body to get to the spring then what is the point.
Internally I was actually surprised based on the price point. Compression parts seem to get the job done since the gun shot at the advertised FPS in my testing. You get a brass nozzle with o-ring, ported aluminum piston head, SHS style full metal rack piston, ported metal cylinder and a brass cylinder head. If you plan to upgrade, none of the compression parts require changing IMO. Gears are 18:1, metal and are 'ok' quality. Gearbox shell utilizes 8mm bearings (not J caged), and is made of pot metal. However, I found no signs of poor machining on the inside where it counts, and I think it will hold up fine for most sub 400FPS build. It also appears to have been reinforced in the front and radiused, albeit not as cleanly or robustly as I would prefer. Also of note is that my gearbox came with only 1 shim on the sector gear. Sector gear and Spur gear were pretty tight to the bearings (tighter then I prefer but not in danger of bearing blow out) so not much room for shimming. Bevel gear was very loose, but I thought the gun sounded fine. With my planned upgrades I'll keep the stock gears and reshim. For electronics you get the standard mechanical trigger contacts, no mosfet and decent, thin wiring with deans connectors.
Hop up is the blue plastic variant (all internal plastic in this gun is the same standard blue CYMA style), but had no issues hoping .25's in my testing. I didn't put my micrometer on the barrel, but it is made of brass and based on accuracy is probably in the 6.05MM to 6.10MM range. Accuracy/ consistency was honestly not great. I attribute the accuracy issue to the hop rubber and barrel more than the hop unit. I'll probably change the hop up rubber to a maple leaf or a 4UAD and role with that, but if you plan on using outside you may need to go further in the hop/ barrel department.
So all in all I think this is an aesthetically pleasing AEG with nice trademarks, well fitted upper and lower receivers and a high quality MLOK rail. The gears are adequate for most builds and compression parts are perfectly fine. I plan to add a high torque motor, replace electronics with a GATE Aster, short stroke gears 2 teeth, reshim and replace bucking to really make this think sing. Then once it breaks I'll continue to poor money into it like the rest of my AEGs :)

"It's a decent rifle. I used it in a 12 hour milsim, and it worked pretty well. The buffer tube is extremely tiny, and sadly that is where the battery goes. It literally took me 2 days to figure out where to put the battery because it's very difficult to get the buffer tube actually open. You have to take off the stock, then use a tiny allen wrench to unscrew the screw that is on the bottom, then you can take off the end cap of the buffer tube. It uses a deans connector, and you have to buy a very small lipo battery. It does not come with a battery, so I would recommend buying a few 7.6 mini deans batteries.
The gun itself is solidly made, my only complaints are the stock and the mag well. The stock is extremely small and shaky, but you can easily get a new one so that's not a huge deal. The mag well however, is very shaky even with the magazine that came with the gun. Not a huge deal, I never had any problems with the mags actually coming out.
It is entirely metal, including the trigger, the only parts that are not are the magazine and the blue hop up system, but that is no problem. It shot around 295 FPS with a fully charged 7.6 Lipo, so you could probably get closer to 320-340 with an 11.1, if you can manage to fit it in the stock.
Overall, it held up very well throughout the game and I never had issues with it misfiring or anything.
I would recommend this for a beginner gun or for small milsim games, but if you are looking to go to a MSW I would recommend getting something a bit higher in price.

"Not bad internals wise but the colored accessories feel loose and the color in the picture is not what it looks like irl. I bought the dark brown earth because in the picture it looked more golden but it almost looks like poop brown. The mag also feels loose ( mid and high caps ). Now onto the good things. It shoots amazingly good and has fantastic accuracy with the iron sights and a red dot sight. The barrel guard also feels really sturdy and it feels great in the hand. Overall a good purchase.
