"I’ve owned this for about a year and a half, and I’ve always loved using it. There’s a screw that’s come a little loose on the bottom of my safety multiple times, but other than that, I’ve got no complaints about it. Absolutely love this gun, and I would totally recommend it to anyone.

"I bought two of the metal/wood version Matrix kar98ks as Christmas gifts for my two sons. I have been a German arms collector for 25+ years and was very happy to see the airsoft version was very similar in weight and overall appearance to the original. They appear to be excellent quality at this price.

"This rifle is hands-down the best airsoft firearm I have had the pleasure of shooting. I've had it for about a month now, but have not yet had the chance to field it. I do however use it daily to shoot a 5.5" target at about 15/20 feet away, and when shooting in 10 shot groups I find I'm hitting the "black" (score 7+) more and more each time, as a matter of fact this morning I landed 7 out of 10 in the high score area (For reference I am shooting Elite Force .32g BB's). I did have to adjust the hop-up halfway to get it to this point though, I believe anything over or under leads to inconsistencies in the shot but since I seem to have found my sweet spot I haven't really experimented with different levels.
The action is smooth, and once you get the motion of it down to muscle memory you'll be able to fire a whole magazine without a single bolt jam. At first you might not be used to the magazine's empty feature where the bolt will lock in place, but once you've felt it a few times you won't be surprised if you're not counting your shots. If you do keep count and know you've fired your last BB, then my recommendation is to replace the magazine before cocking the bolt, then rack your next shot. That way you don't have to pull the bolt and hit the magazine release at the same time, which does feel awkward to do and I'm not sure how that's going to work out in actual play with the rifle. It's an intended feature, don't try forcing the magazine out without pulling the bolt back and pressing the release at the same time. If you've loaded it with the bolt out, simply pull it back again before pushing it forward to rack your next BB. This first shot has been inconsistent for me, sometimes it lands other times it falls a little short.
There is a known issue with this rifle where the safety will get stuck in the "safe to fire" position, I had this myself a few days ago and found a solution via Reddit: spray a little WD-40 in the safety, let it sit for a minute, then turn it upside down and hold it that way for another minute or so, then the safety should be operable again. I myself have no idea why this happens, but I know how to fix it so that's good enough for me.
This rifle does not ship with any diagrams or manuals, so if you're looking to take it apart or upgrade it you're kind of at the mercy of the internet to find the necessary resources, however it's pretty impeccable as is so I don't see the need to dismantle it, long-term usage notwithstanding as again I've only had my rifle for a month and have not yet fielded it in a match. It does come with one magazine and a speed loader, the rubber ring in my loader got pushed out after my second load so you may be better off using a higher quality one if you don't care about losing a few BB's. The magazines have a 23 round capacity, loading more BB's jams them when cycling and you're likely to dry fire. From what I've read this was originally a Snow Wolf product before being acquired by Matrix/ Evike, so SW magazines are compatible (As a matter of fact those are the brand of magazines that were sent when I bought 2 extra mags.)
All in all I am so happy with this rifle. It's my favorite past-time to plink the target now and it's got me hooked on shooting airsoft. Now I'm looking at MP40's lol.

"This thing is an absolute beast. Bought it for 75 at a local arena, and it plays like a champ. It reaches 100 feet ez with .25s to .32s.
The magazines are a dream- but you have to know how to unhook the mag. To take out the mag, you have to pull a little extra on the bolt and unlock it on the trigger guard. Then you can either keep the bolt back, load in the mag while pulling again to grab the next bb, or you can just shut it, dry fire, load the mag and go.
The iron sights are actually phenomenal. 100% unless wind, will go right where your iron is aiming.
The coating thus far has stayed well, through bramble and falls, and apparently has lots of upgrades.
Get it for the look. Keep it for the performance.

"Inexpensive rifle that is good quality and performance. I only use this to shoot in my backyard, I don't go to airsoft games so cant say to how well it does there. I did have feeding issues in the beginning but it has gone away now and not sure what the issue was. It shoots .28 bbs fast and very hard!

"what an amazing gun, looks like the real deal and pulling the bolt NEVER gets old! its super accurate for a spring and also shoots pretty far for a spring powered rifle. i highly recommend this for anyone that likes to reenact like i do or for any reason!

"I bought this gun a month ago in imitation wood and here is my review
Pros:
the gun is very accurate out of the box and does not need basically any tweaking.
it has a high fps about 400 and will easily do 100 yards
the gun is not super heavy and can be run around with and wielded with ease
mag is very easy to load
iron-sights are very good and a scope is not necessary but if you want to use as a real sniper from over 100 yards then i recommend buying one
It looks amazing
Cons:
The bolt is hard to pull back and if you are not to strong you will be very sore by the end of the day
the safety can get stuck on fire but to fix this all i did was spray WD 40 on it let it sit for an hour wipe it off and let the gun sit for 3 weeks
The imitation wood gets scratched SUPER easily and is hollow on the stock
if you have an empty mag and pull back the bolt it will NOT go forward unless you pull the bolt back HARD and hold it then push the mag release you don't have to do this to put the mag in or take one with bbs out but if its empty you do, it WILL dry fire but only if you don't have a mag in
Overall i love this gun and i have a lot of fun with it but because of the bolt being incredibly hard to pull back i would use this to more of like a long range ar or and rush up but if you want a real sniper than i recommend buying something with a bolt that has less resistance but overall really fun weapon and a lot of people love it.

"Love love love the Kar98k!
I bought this rifle after New Years and I am falling for it. The bolt is pretty easy to pull and smooth when it cycled. The mag is stiff to come out but will eventually break in [which is still a good thing]
Pinpoint accuracy to the torso about 100 ft is superb and consistent fps is hold very well.
I also added the TNT upgrades and this kar98k shoot like a beast!! I am clocking almost about 220 ft [with no cross breeze] and I am extremely happy with the performance result of the TNT upgrades
+accuracy
+range
+easy to use
+real wooden stock
-woods can easily be scratched and damaged
-front ironsight is a little loose
-upper wooden pieces is loose
I bought my kar98k w/ real wood and it has some decent weight to it. I'd say it's worth the money if your looking for a reliable kar98k Springer out in the market. Upgrade parts and magazines are available oversea.

"i got this gun as a gift as someone who loves ww2 this gun is great the fake wood does call for drop conserns

"I have to say this is one of my favorite airsoft bolt action platforms as it mixes both the fun of a ww2 rifle with the performance to back it up. Out the box I was shooting 380ish which is super low but on my local field I had no issues using the irons and lighter than normal sniping bbs and it was a blast. Mag system works great and is cleverly placed. Fast forward to now where I have it fully TNT upgraded (takedown and reinstall of parts is pretty simple vs other models) and some .43's and its a laser beam. easily reaching 200' but be warned, good luck getting a better scope than those g&g ones (would not recommend despite not needing to mod anything.)
Pros:
- Out the box "skirmsihable"
- iron sights are easy and fun to use
-accurate 120-150' stock
- great mag system vs other ww2/BASR models
- UPGRADABLE via TNT parts (highly recommend at least the hop and barrel set up)
- 90 degree trigger stock
- locks open on empty mag(although sometimes it doesnt feed a round when you reload depending on mag condition)
- hop up adjustment works great and is a mix between a tdc and an ak slider (modding may be needed otb but is easy to do)
- once upgraded it's terrifyingly good.
CONS:
- butt plate likes to slip on you and creates an awkward angle to cycle the bolt
- mags/loading chamber are vulnerable to dirt/debris and can cause cycling issues if you're a slob
- fake wood look likes to fade easy from heavy use.
- available scopes on the market suck. (heavy modding needed for using a better scope)
- hard to find mags and parts (overseas only real source atm)
Long story short this is a great platform and for what it costs stock and or upgraded its a great value and a blast to play with if looking for a ww2 sniper that can actually snipe! 9/10

"I love this gun it is durable and performance fantastically. The only problem I have with it is the hip up unit. A pice of it broke and now the hop op won’t stay in the same place so I had to put ducked tape on it. Over all it’s a well done rifle

"this gun is fantastic!
it's as accurate as you're gonna need it to be, probably my only airsoft gun where adjusting the rear sight actually matters
only problem i've had is that it seems like the most common k98 rail won't fit on this? i'm not sure, it's hard to say
you can find the same exact model of rail on amazon, ebay, even here on evike, yet it seems that there's no tutorials on how to install it, or even a picture of one installed on a k98 as far as i can tell
to get back on topic though, fantastic gun, built well, works well, and not too pricey either

"I received this rifle about a month ago. I am a huge fan of all things WW2 and this offerings fills a huge hole in the WW2 airsoft community. As a springer that doesnt use cartridges it is infinitly more skirmishable than the previous KAR 98s.
The faux wood stock is a pitty but for plastic is well done and solid. The gun shot hard an accurately and the hop up was effective up to .28 gram BBs. I am easily able to hit the neighbors plastic recycle bin 160 feet away aiming right at it. It hits hard enough thatit provides a satisfyingly loud thwack.
The magazine is well done and when clicked into place looks correct from a replica point of view. The owners manual does not point out that when the magazine is empty the bolt locks back but that was pointed out in other reviews. Not knowing it caused some alarm early on in my ownership experience. Loading and unloading the magazine is far easier than the thin magazine andtrap door in S & Ts M1903 Springfield which I also own.
I did take 4 days inletting an actual Kar 98 stock and handguard and though pencil lead thin in places it works well. My hope is S & T will offer a real wood version.
I heartily commend S & T for providing us WW2 fans with models we have been denied for far too long and have to say this is 5 for 5 on all levels. I love this rifle. Looks great, feela great and shoots straight and hard.

"An update on the short range on my unit. Fiddled with the hopup bucking, and all of a sudden the effective range jumped to at least 150 feet, likely longer. It appears as if the BBs were not getting the proper backspin with the bucking as having shipped out of the factory, and now they are because of the little adjustment. I am now shooting way over the 100-foot target at the maximum hop.
