"I absolutely LOVE shell ejecting airsoft weapons. Ever since I was 16 (which was 20 years ago), I've always wanted an old Marushin Kar98k 8mm shell ejector. However, they have always been too expensive for just laughs and fun. Also, non standard and impossible to find replacement parts has always been a barrier for me. But nowadays, shell ejecting airsoft weapons are MUCH more common and information on how to repair/modify them is widely available. So, I purchased this weapon from another website overseas because Evike was sout of stock at the time and has been out of stock on this for awhile. Now I see it is back in stock! So I am going to give my honest review and opinion. Perhaps I can clear up some confusion and mystery surrounding this weapon. So, if you are familiar with the wooden Double Bell Kar98k shell ejector, this rifle is the exact same quality of wood, metal and overall build quality. Although I think the Double Bell Kar98k wood version is just one notch higher in build quality. The wood on this is not as good as the Kar98k, but the rest of it is good. It is HEAVY! I'd say 9 pounds, which is about the weight of the real steel SMLE. The magazine is detachable and loading rounds in the magazine is SUPER satisfying and fun! It just feels so cool you have to do it to understand. I'm sure real gun owners may find my amusement totally normal for them, but this is airsoft. Absolutely nothing like this weapon comes even close to how much fun it is to shoot. Except other shell ejectors of course. The magazine holds 7 rounds. SEVEN rounds. The real steel SMLE mags hold 10, but 7 is all this has got. However, with 7 rounds loaded in the magazine, the mag cannot be inserted back in the weapon with the bolt closed, or if loaded from the top with the mag in, the bolt cannot be closed with 7 rounds loaded. So really the capacity is 6+1. The weapon also cannot be loaded with stripper clips. They don't even come close to fitting. I think the real steel SMLE was modeled, which uses different clips than the Kar98k. But the shells will not fit in a real steel SMLE stripper clip, so we are out of luck in that department. Side note: You can buy and use real steel Mauser Kar98k stripper clips with the Double Bell shells and load them in your Double Bell Kar98k! Unfortunately, the Double Bell shells do not come with clips like the G&G Kar98k shell packs do. Anyway, the bolt does not rotate and there are no replica locking lugs like the Kar98k, and the cocking piece is non functional. The safety works just like the real steel SMLE. Put it to the rear to lock the bolt and trigger, then flip it forward to fire. The safety switch is EXTREMELY loose, and just kinda flips on its own. I do not like that and I wish to modify it one day. The bolt is also WAY bigger than the real steel SMLE to contain the adequately large gas piston and cylinder. Only the bolt handle rotates and locks at the back of the bolt while the bolt stays still (it's a springer, what do you expect?). The shells load very reliably and the weapon is very smooth and fast to operate with some practice. One big problem I do have with it is sometimes the bolt does not catch the top round in the magazine, and loads and empty chamber. This can be minimized by always tilting the back of the bolt up while racking the bolt, so the bolt face tilts down. I always watch the action while I cycle it. After I grab a round from the magazine, I SLAM the bolt home in one swift and hard motion. This is the only way to reliably close the bolt easily. You have to fight the main spring while closing the bolt, and if done slowly or by using your wrist, it is very difficult and will tire you out very fast. If you fail to close and lock the bolt, the bolt will come flying back along with the round. It is sometimes hard to actually close the bolt. This is why I use my arm strength and quick force. Just imagine how you are trying to jam the shell in the chamber and give it all you've got! Anyway, yes, the spring is very tough and even using my slam-home method, the heel of your palm will start to hurt after 50+ rounds and you will definitely feel it in the morning. It can get so bad that you have to stop a shooting session, and won't want to shoot again until your tender palm heals a bit after a few days. As for ejection, it is reliable and satisfying. I never had a problem with shells ejecting. There is a plunger style ejector on the bolt face, so unlike the Kar98k, how hard you pull the bolt back will not affect ejection. The hop-up is accessible under the rear sight and can be nicely adjusted. I use 0.25g BBs and clock in at a VERY consistent 323 FPS. That is the number that pops up most, but the deviation is only like /- 2 FPS. This weapon is one of the most consistent airsoft weapons I have shot. With 0.2g BBs, it gets 363. Heh. Yeah that specific. It varies but that number comes up the most. Accuracy is good. You can hit a person nearly every shot from 50 meters (150 feet) away, but not much further than that. I find I get better accuracy and smaller groups with 0.25g BBs than with 0.2g BBs. 0.3g BBs are too heavy and I can't set the hop right and I also lose some range. So far I have only fired this weapon maybe 200 times but I have not had any other issues with it. It is fun to shoot and mostly reliable. I do not recommend skirmishing or playing any organized airsoft game with it. It is too slow to shoot, load and offers no major benefits other a than being mad cool! Stick to an AEG or GBBR for airsoft games. For the price, I'd say this thing is definitely worth it. It also uses the same shells as the Kar98k, so if you already have some, they can be interchanged between rifles. If you want a cool wall hanger piece or just a fun gun to shoot from time to time, I'd say go for it! I highly recommend it just for fun target shooting or as a collector piece. I hope this review helps anyone looking to purchase this weapon.
