The SG556 is the latest iteration of the SG55x line of infantry rifles. The SG556 shares many of the same features and ergonomics as its original 550/551/552/553 predecessors. The most notable update to this weapons platform is the ability to accept the very common and widely available M4 / M16 compatible STANAG magazines with an M4 / M16 style button magazine release. Further updates include an M4 style buffer tube along with an M4 style adjustable length of pull butt stock to replace the side folding single position "classic" stock. Additional enhancements include a CNC machined aluminum quad rail handguard for easy installation of tactical components such as grips, lights, and laser systems.

" I have only just received it 2 days ago, but so far I am happy with this gun. It has some weight to it, heavy in the hand, but solid. Nothing came loose, no bad suprises very tight. the selector swich is very tight, i used some silicone on that as well as when you pull the stock, its very tight. It seems very realistic. Normally when I get A new AEG first thing I do is clean the inner barrel. It seems to me that A new barrel, fresh out the box is VERY DIRTY , most times, not so on this one, it was clean. The FPS is I believe what is advertised. The motor is not putting out A great ROF, but it will do, probibly will upgrade that in the future. So far its realistic, no surprise out the box , and is fun to shoot, accurate The rotory hop up is fine. I got she shorter model, and its exciting so far. hope this helps. CL.
" Finally got to use this gun all day for indoor cqb
Out of the box I think the gun performs great for what it is and what it costs! All my M4 mags fit the gun except for my 2 A&K 60rd midcaps. The gun was extremely accurate and I was able to hit many targets through very small swindles and cracks. ROF isn’t the craziest but we were firing semi only anyway. The body is full metal and feels great. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on the gun. Hop up is rotary style and easy to adjust.
My two complaints about the gun thus far:
The selector switch doesn’t really seem to lock into place. You’ll hear it click but it’s so easy to accidentally turn it. My biggest gripe is the stock. On mine the buffer tube is loose. If i screw it all the way in, then the stock points sideways. It’s not hard to be playing a game and suddenly you hit your stock the wrong way and have it wobbling around on you. I’ll try replacing the buffer tube, but as it is i can’t get my stock to be tight AND in proper position.
" I got the Tan short version. This is made by CYMA and most likely was a request from Cybergun to expand their swiss arms line and provide a cheaper alternative to the now discontinued King arms sig 556.
The biggest issue for me is m4 mags cannot seat all the way in the magwell due to a feed tube that allows m4 mags to feed to the sig hop chamber. If you look at where the bbs feed out on a sig mag compared to am m4 mag you'll see the difference. This feed tube reduces the space inside the magwell to allow a m4 mag to seat in all the way. To accommodate this, they extended the mag release and shortened the included hicap. This means Pmags or any other type of ar mag it will stick out longer which looks really goofy. Some people may not be bothered by this but I figure id mention it for those who have an attention to detail.
CYMA also missed alot of details for sake of cost effectiveness which may or may not be a concern to you. Minor details they missed are the sights and charging handle which are different on the real sig556. The ar stock adaptor piece should have an end plate, but CYMA just made it all one piece which looks strange, and prevents you from installing a sling mounted type. Also they kept this part black on the Tan bodied ones when it should be tan.
Other than than the gun is fine its just several details and design decisions which that may be of concern.
