"To make a long story short, it's a great connector, if a bit overpriced.

This connector is exactly what it says it is. I used it to change my ak to deans. All you have to do is chop off the old connector, strip the wires, place heat shrink, and solder the wires to the connector. It sounds simple, but it requires some soldering skill. You need to tin both the wire and the connector, as well as your soldering iron itself to properly solder the connector. Without proper tinning, a strong bond is difficult to form due to the flat, featureless contacts of the connector. It's very forgiving though. If you have a bad joint and it breaks, just remelt your solder and try to form the joint again. Either you will get lucky and form a good joint, or get enough practice that you will be skilled enough to make a good joint. Just be sure to not melt the plastic of the connector as the contacts can move around if you do. Having something metal connected to wick away heat is very helpful with that. I recommend a soldering clamp stand with metal arms, but plugging the connector into another connector with a length of wire already attached can also be effective. All in all absolutely worth while to have big slabs of metal as contacts rather than the thin pins of a Tamiya connector. Only real downside of this connector is the price, which is pretty high for what it is. I suppose it's the price you par for the convenience of not having to order from a separate electronics website.
