" I own two of these box mags, one from buying the CM16 LMG and I bought a spare because LMG. It fits really well with anything that is M4 compatible, I have used it in just about all my guns from a 7 year old TAR21 to my brand new 416 which is ultra picky and it has yet to find something it will not fit in. Feed quickly and can keep up with most guns that are sub 20 rps, after that you need to give it a break and let it wind up for a second but you will still get a lot of rounds off. Uses CR123A batteries which are hearty and the spare mag actually came with a charger so you could really only need 2 sets just in case. Bad news on this though is also one of its best features which is why it still got a high score, and that is it auto winds by just putting it into your magwell. This causes the motor to turn until the entire feed tube is full, at which point it will keep feeding until it senses the back pressure and stop. This means no sound activation to try to mess with and it will keep you topped up a lot...until it kinks the feeding hose on the inside with too much pressure build up. This has caused me to have to take apart both of my box mags and there is no sign that this is going to happen until it does out of the blue. At which point the mag is useless until you open it up again. Top it off with only a 90 day warranty from G&G and you will have to keep working on it yourself.
Pros:
Feeds rather fast
No sound control winding
Uses rechargeable batteries with a long life
Can fit in a wide variety of M4 styled guns
Cons:
Once jammed, be ready to do your own tech work
Takes too long for it to sense the back pressure of bbs
Sometimes you need to shake the mag to get all the bbs into the feeding well
" The magazine is about the middle ground for a good drum mag. I have 2, one that came with the CM16 LMG and I bought an extra because LMG. The box mag has a pretty great idea on paper for loading, but in practice it comes up a bit short. When you insert the mag into the gun it stars winding automatically and will keep winding so long as it is in the magwell. Once it is full it will keep trying to wind until enough back pressure triggers the mag to stop feeding, this is both good and bad because it keeps up with your fire rate pretty well, but puts lots of pressure on the parts inside the mag. It would be OK if the mag were a bit cheaper, but at over $100 per mag, it just isn't worth it.
However it comes with a program board that you can bypass if you are good enough and time it with your trigger pulls so it only feeds when you fire. Great for HPA builds, except I you put in heavy bbs it tends to jam up the feed tube. Wouldn't recommend using more than .28s
Pros:
- no sound winding or manual button, just works
- batteries are rechargeable and last forever
- already set up for HPA FCU integration
Cons:
- expensive for the performance given
- jams with heavyweight bbs
- cheap plastic motor interface will break easily
They were so close on this one to an excellent mag, but the cost and the inability to lift heavy bbs cost this one. If you just want it to throw some cheap bbs put at the field it will work wonders, if not, better to go elsewhere.
