"Out of the box this gun is a LPAEG. I don't think Evike advertised them as metal gearbox. But its a five because the STAR XM8 kit will cost you $300. This "complete gun" if you gut out the abs gearbox, and put in a metal V.3 gearbox, you will have a custom XM8 thats retailed for $500. The gearbox will be as reliable as your skill and customized the way you want it. Because its only $60 and you can shoot it until you break it to switch out the gearbox to a metal one for only $50 at Evike.com, its definitely worth the money if you want to add an desert XM8 to your collection.

"For all BE guns, its recommended to buy a good battery. A good 1200 or 1500 mah small type. Keep the free battery as spare. Most big brands don't give out the free battery to begin with anyways. High cap magazine for this AEG is $18 (470 rounds). (The JG G36C hicap will work).

"The external furniture on this gun is alright, not bad for the price. Top choice for custom XM8. Evike.com seem to have the newer version of all the Chinese stuff. All the Chinese stuff you'll have to make sure its the new version because they are like computer parts nowadays. Buy it from reputable big stores like Evike.com as they always have the new models. Makes sense since they supply all the other retailers.

"I gotta say this gun is crap. The magazine only holds about 16 rounds. Not to mention that the battery died after a week. When it's out of the box, It will shoot 280 fps for maybe 5 shots off of a fresh charge. I dont know if mine was deffective, or whatever, but dont be surprised if this "great bargain" has some great drawbacks.
