From real world conflicts to video games, the PPSh - 41 is an iconic submachine gun that was produced by the Soviet Union. The PPSh - 41 is a select-fire, open-bolt, blowback submachine gun chambered in 7.62x25mm Tokarev. Designed in 1941, the PPsh - 41 was an affordable and simplified replacement for the PPD - 40. This firearm has seen extensive combat, from World War 2 to the Russo Ukrainian War. Largely made from stamped steel, the PPSh 41 can be loaded with either a box magazine or a drum magazine. Integrated at the front of the barrel jacket, a crude compensator was implemented with the design to reduce the muzzle climb when the user holds down the trigger to spray down a target with a cyclic rate of 1250 rounds per minute. During the gun's prime, the Soviet Union produced around 6 million PPSh 41s for the war effort during World War 2.

Nowadays, the PPSh-41 can be seen featured in World War 2 themed first-person shooter games with some iterations in modern shooter games as well. With the implementation of the PPSh 41 into the gaming industry, popular Airsoft manufacturers saw an opportunity to produce full-sized replicas.
