"Contrary to what others might have said about this, I think this piece works rather great. I never bought it on its own, but it came with the CYMA Contractor AK-47 that has a foregrip and a folding stock (in all black as well if that helps anyone searching for it). Outside of this single gun, I doubt it will work for just about anything if the gun doesn't come with screw hols inside its "upper" receiver. But if you own the gun that I mentioned above, and are just getting a replacement for whatever reason, rest assured that this product works great.
"Due to the lack of reviews and abundance of questions about this item, I took it upon myself to write one of my own.
Firstly, to address everyone's question: THIS RAIL WILL NOT FIT ON YOUR AK.
There, I said it. It's slightly more complicated than that, but odds are, if you have an AK, this rail will not work on it. Because if its attachment system, it is incompatible on a standard AK 47, 74, Beta Spetsnaz, or 74u. The only type of AK that this rail WILL work on is a CPW AK (a fairly rare and obscure modernized tactical AK variant, which is characterized by having an M4 style buffer tube stock and 2 extra holes drilled into the rear sight. If your AK was not specifically described as a CPW AK, then odds are it isn't, and unless your gun both has an M4 style crane/buffer tube stock and the extra holes in the rear sight, the rail will not attach in the intended manner. That was the bad part.
The good part! The attachment system is held onto the rail itself with Alan/hex screws, and it was pretty simple to take off the metal attaching brackets, leaving me with a faily high quality rail with 4 screw holes in the bottom of it. The top cover for my Marui AK Beta Spetsnaz has a couple of holes in it for the AKS style rear iron sight, and I was able to mount this rail as a top cover rail by drilling an extra hole in the back of the top cover and screwing the rail on with the screws that had been attached to the mounting system. The mod took maybe an hour (and most of that was due to poor tools) and I have been very satisfied with the result. It wasn't the intended method of attachment, but it's good enough for me. I did have to add some electrical tape to the edges of the top cover to make it less wobbly, but my holographic scope is now held on very securely and is the perfect height to look into while wearing a paintball mask.
Pros:
Rail itself feels solid and high quality.
If you have a CPW AK, it should fit very well
DIY attachment system wasn't hard to rig
Cons:
Unless you have a CPW AK, this rail will not fit in the intended method. You have been warned. If your AK has a side attach scope rail mount, I'd recommend buying a side mount scope rail over this.
All in all, the rail itself is very high quality. I'm giving it a 3/5 because it most likely won't fit your AK and the name of the product is misleading.
