"I purchased this stock to adapt it to a AR-15 lower receiver to recreate the experimental military short carbine. As you may know, this is the first generation collapsible stock. It was only used on the 607 model. Many parts need to be replaced. However. The buffer tube needs to be a carbine length pistol tube. The actuator rod is too short and must be remade. Modification of the rear of the lower receiver is also necessary. Not a project for the faint of heart.

"I purchased this stock in 2013 in the later portion of December and have successfully installed it onto a G&P XM177E2.
First off, I will be reviewing the product, and then I will proceed to detail installing it because it took some time for me to figure it out.
REVIEW:
The stock, un-extended, is 2 inches shorter than a regular full sized M16 stock, and is the same size as a full size M16 stock when extended.
The stock's movement when "Open" or on the "O" setting is very fluid as the spring inside the stock is quite strong, it will extend very quickly.
The main material of the stock is a very tough plastic, and the butt-plate is a kind of barely rubberized metal/plastic combination. The internals of the stock are all metal and are very well greased.
It sits nicely on my rifle and is very comfortable.

There is no space for a battery unless you heavily dremel the stock to run wires.
This is definitely not a stock made for rear wired gearboxes.

Installing the stock

NOTE: You must have a lower receiver that has a "tail" around .59 inches or less. 3/8in tails will do. The tail is the portion of the lower receiver on an M4/M16/AR that meets the stock.
The stock did not come with instructions on how to install it, as such, I presumed it would be an easy install when I got it. However it is quite unique in the installation method.
First off; take the threaded barrel object inside of the stock's opening (where the stock meets the receiver) and unscrew until you have taken it out of the stock.
Find a stock screw, or an M5 screw that is slightly smaller than 82.84mm (if installing into a polarstar, not sure on length for a regular V2 gearbox but I presume longer than 70mm minimum)
Take the screw and place it through the threaded barrel thing with the end of the screw pointed towards where the lower receiver would be.
Place the screw and threaded barrel onto the rear of the lower receiver and screw in your stock/M5 screw until it can no longer be screwed in. Be gentle to your P*/gearbox, and do not try to screw it in as far as it will go with all of your strength.
If your screw is all the way in and the screw's head is not making contact with the threaded barrel, I would advise you to add a couple of washers or some other object inbetween the screw head and the threaded barrel. This will assist in reducing stock wobble!
Now that the screw and threaded barrel have been installed (and washers added accordingly if you needed to), proceed to take the stock, un-extended and locked, and screw it onto the threaded barrel. Just twist the stock clockwise and it will be installed.

For tips and tricks to making the stock stay on nice and tight, I can recommend a few things.
1. If your screw is all the way in and the screw's head is not making contact with the threaded barrel, I would advise you to add a couple of washers or some other object inbetween the screw head and the threaded barrel. This will assist in reducing stock wobble! (As already said)
2. |gun|stock ring|regular stock sling mount (without a point on it)|threaded barrel
You can add a sling mount that does not actually have a sling mount to it (they come essentially as spacers and do not plug up the "bottom" of the lower receiver where the wiring would come out) and they will assist in keeping the stock nice and set.

"Follow-up: the stock itself is badass and great; I personally love having a collapsible solid stock. However, the attachment screw provided is made of very soft metal and strips easy- definitely pick up a similar one from your local hardware store. I'm putting this stock on a gbbr and it needs to be perfectly solid or the gun won't function. Oh, and if you're putting this on a gbbr, you'll need to make some big mods..
