"I bought a D-Boys AK74s from some guy back in 2017. It broke after a few months and I didn't do anything with it cuz I wasn't super familiar with the tech side of things and for awhile I didn't even know I could fix it. I bought this gearbox a couple weeks ago and so far I have nothing to complain about.
This gearbox compared to the original is better in every way. It's LiPo ready up to 11.1V, where the other used a fuse and could only use up to a 9.6v. This one shoots just under 400fps consistently, where the other could range from 365-395. The rate of fire is around 26rps and the other was about 14.
My only problem is that it doesn't seem able to lock in semi-auto. This is an issue for me because I primarily use midcaps, however I plan on getting a drum eventually anyway so it won't be much of a problem then.

"I'd been trying to put a bunch of upgrades into my AK's stock gearbox, had ALL SORTS of problems, and eventually gave up in frustration and bought this. I'm not terribly impressed with the range and accuracy, but the problem could be with my hopup setup. I haven't used this very extensively, so I can't say for sure how durable it is, but from what I've seen I would expect it to be fine. I don't have a chronograph so I can't say how many FPS it'll give; however, it's quite easy to measure the ROF, just record the sound of it firing into a program like Audacity and count the peaks in sound over a 1 second period. I tested it with 3 different batteries, and here are the results:
8.4 V (7s) NiMH: 14 RPS
7.4 V (2s) LiPo: 12.5 RPS
11.1 V (3s) LiPo: 21 RPS
One other thing: FULL-AUTO ONLY. For some reason, whether I put the selector switch in semi-auto position or full-auto position, it only shoots full-auto. At some point I'll open everything back up and make sure the selector switch is attached properly and all, but I'm fairly sure it is, but still, no semi-auto firing.

"The gearbox performed well I bought this about 10 months ago and after about 15 days of playing the gears on the piston wiped out. The teeth on the piston are plastic so they just eventually gave out. luckiIy had a metal tooth piston for a spare so I got it up and running pretty quickly. Other than that I would say it is a pretty solid gearbox for the price.
