Phantom Gear HD-17 Solar Powered Red Dot w/ Low Glare Tinted Lens (Color: Black)

"The other review isnt entirely positive, but I've had a rather good experience with my HD17. Disclosure, I live in Florida so a solar sight might be better for me than someone up north. The red dot locks nice and tight onto my Type 97 and I can see it perfectly clearly in Florida sun. It definitely needs direct light, it isnt able to run on ambient light like the Teijicon it is copying. The tinted lense is removable and does adjust to allow light inside and out, effectively acting as your brightness adjustment. My sight did not have an on-off switch like the other guy mentioned, the only thing to power it off is the rubber cap that was included. The red dot appears to be a Chevron but it is pretty small (maybe 2MOA on mine? Vs the 6.5 or 12 of the Trijicon) so with an astigmatism it's basically a little round dot lol. Personally I really enjoy the sight, but it will only be useful if you play outside in a sunny or otherwise bright place. If you do, I totally recommend it!

"Only one setting for brightness and in the sunlight, it can be a little hard to see the reticle since it's so small. My sight has a slight cant forward, but it doesn't bother me when I am actively using it. Aesthetically, it looks off. If this sight was 30 bucks this review would be more positive, but for this price I would have wanted more versatility and options.

All metal construction besides the lense, lense cover and on/off switch
Sightable red dot
Good replica of the real thing
Simple and easy to use
The lense cover could possibly take a few hits by bbs
Heavy (could be a con for some)
The solar part does actually work however...

Cons:
The optic would wobble on every 20mm rail I attached it on because the piece that gets tighten down by the screws can't tighten down all the way to the other side-making it wobble.
The red dot only has one brightness level so no adjusting
The solar part works BUT there has to be a lot of light in order to see the red dot and it is not very bright.

Overall it's a solid and simple sight. Good concept and build but the fact that I can't use it without it wobbling around just ruins it for me. It can probably work if you modify or use another mounting system for this sight.
