"I almost returned this gun in less than a week after I noticed a significant loss of performance hoping Evike will diagnose something and repair it under warranty.
You see, I am always into gas blowback pistols and I can say, I am an expert with its care and function. HOWEVER, I only have two (2) AEGs in my entire lifetime air-softing because I am too scared working on this thing called a gearbox.
___ This FN P90 was performing to my standards and it works as advertised (I shoot at a 6x6 inch wooden box at 150 feet with 0.20g BBs and hits it all the time all) when after what must have been 1000 BBs, shooting power was lost. Adjusting hop-up would not solve any of its issues because apart from erratic trajectory, the BBs now cannot even penetrate a piece of cereal box cardboard from 50 feet. WHAT THE eFF!?!
I hate this thing they call gearbox, I really do. My other AEG is a famous Taiwanese brand starting with the letter G and ends with letter G with and ampersand in between and has been stock since I got it in 2012. It hasn't needed any maintenance up to this day either (apart from barrel cleaning and hop up system care). I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE ME but that gun held its performance rating to this day. AND BECAUSE OF THAT, IT WAS THE STANDARD to which I expected my new FN P90 need met.
And it didn't meet performance... Anymore in just a span of days.
Out of sadness, Evike already cooperated with me after I called them and sent me an RMA and have a shipping label ready to print. BUT in my head, I thought to myself, I think it's about time I learned about this AEG's woeful gearboxes and forget about the warranty. I'll just own up, if I mess up. Because in the end, I do think I really need to learn this thing. My son (yes, I'm a dad!), will be 18 years old soon, and I do think it's best to introduce him to airsoft as part of a healthy and truly sociable hobby. And we can be tag team too!
So before shipping my gun, I went and just open open the back of the gun (very easy with this FN P90) and take the gearbox out. Upon getting the gearbox, I connected it to a battery and did some function check and I noticed immediately one thing... The nozzle isn't moving like it should like I see in videos on YouTube.
Why!?
They mention sector gear, tappet plate, blah blah blah as common problems and with it... a lot of lost pressure and FPS -- the dreadful cause as to why my BBs can't even blow a hole on cereal cardboard box!
Apparently, I am religious to safety clearing the gun before dismantling. So I know no BBs on here before doing any kind of work.
So why all of a sudden a BB fell out of the gearbox I am currently holding on!?
Where did that BB come from... and why is it greasy?! DID THE BB get inside the gearbox!?!?
WELL, GUESS WHAT? There is a significant gap between the inner side of gearbox's metal housing and the front of the cylinder and it seems the BB fell in and sat there for a while. I "simulated" this again when I decided to drop a BB into this gap, and LO AND BEHOLD, the BB sat there like poop on your poop deck which won't go unless you pucker up.
For the case of this stupid BB, it was my turning the gearbox upside down and that BB fell out. It really was like poop as the BB was covered with grease! Eeeewwww!!!!
Well, there you have it! PROBLEM FIXED! Imagine me returning this gun for this simple turn of event? Imagine the pollution it will do had this shipment travelled with the added weight on the UPS truck? Imagine the time wasted by the technician only to find out it was just a stuck BB in the wrong place? Imagine the operation expense this could have done to Evike!!!???
---
PS: So... do I know how to work on a AEG gearbox yet? NO. You can say, I escaped this one and I still do not know how to work on them. Maybe I will, after the Evike warranty expires. Har Har Har!!!
I hope you had a laugh with my stupid experience which could happen to you too! If you notice performance is suddenly lost, get the gearbox out and check if a BB fell on that gap too!
---
As for the gun!? HANDS DOWN the BEST looking PDW weapon for me with performance to match for air-softing. The thing is so "tiny" it goes straight inside my backpack without the need to separate the receiver and barrel assembly.

"This is good for a P90, although Im not the biggest fan of a polymer build. But don't let polymer fool anyone, its not poor quality at all. It is reliable with fairly decent trigger response, and is better for a beginner not so much advanced. It can be used for fast paced challenging cqb but I wouldn't use it for speedqb or any hyper fast milsim gameplay but it COULD get the job done. It depends on the game and player. But this gun is perfect to start out with

"The gun itself is excellent- it's very compact (smaller than I expected, actually), has a good weight to it (heavier than I expected) and shoots insanely hard. I have not fielded it in any games yet but I did slightly injure a small bird (half-accidentally) with it. The RoF is great. I ordered the Dark Earth with the added 7.4 LiPo and smart charger. When I received the package, it did not include the stock 9.6v battery, but Tiffany from Evike was very helpful in resolving that issue, so one should be shipping to me soon.
Overall, this P90 is an amazing gun for the price- my second AEG and a huge improvement over the first one. The things I don't like: the ironsights (you need a sight for this, preferably a raised one- height is a big issue here), the small capacity of the stock magazine (although the fake bullets look awesome), the small battery space, and the heavy switch on the fire selector.
Note: I bought two of the 170-round midcap magazines off of AirsoftExtreme.com, which was the only place I could find with them in stock. They seem to work fine, although again, I haven't had a ton of use yet.
5/5 stars. A great gun, completed by Evike's amazing customer service. I will continue to recommend them as the best airsoft retailer there is!

"NICE ! I just hope it holds up. So far it is quite accurate but it's compact design takes getting used to, I tend to shoot low with it, ordered a window site to help, we'll see. I'm not versed in air-soft guns but this is going to be my choice for the field. I ordered the 3000 rd auto feed magazine because this empties the stock one in 5 seconds and why not just get infinite rounds instead of more magazines.
It hurts. I accidentally shot my son too close and it put an instant bruise on his thigh from @ 15' away...... I let him get me back and he drew a line of welts up my leg.
This design was and still is ground breaking in compact accuracy, I've wanted one since they first hit the states but could never afford the real thing. Now I got one and am waiting on another one to be delivered. Sure they're fake but I can shoot this one in my back yard or on the playing field.
The mechanism is kinda loud and there's a place at the bottom that looks like something is missing...?...
The battery door is weird to open.
Apparently they ALL come with the funky orange tip but I recommend the P90

"I got this rifle as a gift for my son. He absolutely loves it! It fires well and very maneuverable during games at the range! Well built and fun to use!

"I've had mine for about 4 years and its still a chainsaw shooting right at 400,can hop .32's np mags feed fine but hold under 100 but the new Krytac mags work, cant complain about the range and the rof is close to 20 on a 7.4 titan battery. You need a brick battery,I stuffed a titan in there but be careful if you want to get it out again. I have 20 guns and I dont mind breaking this out it can compete on full auto but semi isnt going to cut it,trigger is different than other guns. A good option with no snares other than A high fps barely legal(400 this thing brings pain) and semi will get you shot. It can reach out though so outdoor games are fine at mid range all day after hop up is set and broke in.

"Honestly this a an amazing starter PDW for those who want something light and reliable. It slaps, it stands out amongst the crowd.
My only main issue was that a piece of plastic in the trigger system broke and I was only allowed to fire full auto. It was not too much of an issue though since I already planned to replace the trigger system and add a mosfet.
This one is a no brainer, if you like the P90 and are sitting on this one, go and get one. You can't go wrong with this one.

"1000% recommend this gun! I bought it sometime ago for $109 and it hasn't failed to impress me. Only gripe is that the battery is annoying to get in, but besides that, amazing!

"Review for "FN Herstal Licensed P90 Full Size Metal Gearbox Airsoft AEG (Color: Dark Earth / Gun Only)"
Standard price at time of review: $145 USD
Sale price I paid at time of review: $130.50 USD
Really good replica for the price. Chrono'd at 390FPS with a 0.20bb with hop up all the way off. Rate of fire was around 11RPS with a 7.4v 1000mah 30C LiPo. The internals are pretty solid, with a full steel spring guide with bearings (not bushings). The hop up bucking was a V prong, which I personally like as I think it does a better job of creating backspin than a cheap singular bump.
The internals were plastered in excessive blue grease, to the point that cleaning it all out actually improved the rate of fire by 2 rps (11rps to 13rps). That's a 19% improvement in rate of fire from simply cleaning the excessive grease on the inside. Everything else inside the gearbox was standard, as noted above the only notable parts were the spring guide and the bucking. For a $145 replica, better than expected. Sometimes this goes all the way down to $115, and at that point it's a steal.
Note: the inner barrel length is 260mm NOT 290mm. The adverstised length is a lie. If you bought a 290mm barrel, it would stick out past the orange flash hider.

"Amazing little gun!!! First things first, it shoots 380 right out of the box (with a good barrel cleaning) with .20s and is barely legal for my CQB field, however, because of that, this thing kicks serious butt out there! It’s truly like having an smg and rifle all in one. This thing is amazing in a big woodsy field as well! Slap in some .25s and this thing will shoot like a LAZER. Even with .20s I was getting many many kills. Slap a 20$ valken red dot sight on it and you’re in MAJOR business.
I’m just getting into airsoft myself and I can say, this is an excellent gun for anyone to start off with if they want something cheap, reliable, and transportable. This thing fits in my back pack!!! I didn’t even need to get a gun bag or case for it! If you have a traditional hiking pack or day pack you’re set. Just make sure you maintain your barrels cleanliness!!!!
This guns barrel and hop up/bucking mind you is a little greasy out of the box due to manufactures. Which isn’t a bad thing but my barrel sure needed a cleaning after 2 average outdoor games not even to mention the excess grease around the bucking and hop up which effectively lower your FPS due to less friction sending your bb out of the gun. But that’s just regular gun maintenance you SHOULD be doing anyway lol. Take care of your gear and it will take care of you!! I is haven’t had any problems with this gun yet and I’m pretty certain it’s because of regular maintenance.
So to anyone that doesn’t want to read all of that here’s the pros and cons:
Pros:
-Lightweight but sturdy
-strong polymer body
-metal pic rails of side and top
-shoots at 380FPS with .20s pretty much out of the box
-comes with a nice 1100mah NIMH battery w charger even if you get the gun only model (lasts me all day in the field on average of 6-7 hours)
-fast full auto firing rate, stays true to the authentic p90 in that regard
-it’s not just an M4
-comes with 100 round speed loader+ cleaning rod
Cons:
-The battery compartment is a little tight, fitting anything more than 4 cells long and two cells wide will probably be a challenge

"Overall great gun. Shoots accurately.
Pros:
Cheap (by what I’ve seen)
Accurate to a point
Comes with battery, even if you order the Gun Only package. 9.6v NiMH, and the wall charger that comes with is shit, but either way awesome gun.
Cons:
Fires a little hot for close range. Just run the battery down before you go lmao

"Got this in a couple of days ago and haven't put it down yet! Shoots great and fun to use, so glad I bought it!!!

"The Good:
-compact, light design (its a p90)
-very maneuverable in CQB fields
-looks great
-durable body, took quite a lot of shots so far and no dents
-decent RoF, nothing crazy but its alright
-the sell replacement parts (upper and lower receivers)
-super easy to dismantle (upper receiver has to be out BEFORE you take the plate holding the gearbox out)
-accurate (using red dot; irons not tested; with M80 spring installed)
-Put an M80 spring in it, works like a dream
-uses a V6 gearbox like most other P90's which are easy for getting into teching without the worry of wires
The Bad:
-shoots ~390 out of box (shoot 290 with M80 spring installed)
-trigger pull is a little heavy
-loud, M80 spring helps this a little
The Final Notes:
-overall great so far, only complaints are small and overcomeable even though its Cybergun
-"upgraded" stocks aren't really necessary the one it comes with is fine
-for completely stock, its alright no need to upgrade unless you plan on doing CQB
-Good for starters, and if problems come up they aren't to hard to address if you have basic understanding of how to do tech work
-no need for fancy slings, made one out of a plain old buckle strap that I found in the garage
