*Gun, magazines, & ammunition shown in images not includedWhether your preferred method of handgun carry is concealed or open, a quality holster that fits your preferred method, lifestyle, and carry condition is a must. In carrying a weapon, firearm conditions are a primary way to declare the readiness of the weapon.

Condition Zero (0) refers to magazine inserted, round in the chamber, hammer cocked, and safety off. This method of carry is arguably the quickest to present and discharge your weapon as it does not require any fine motor skills to manipulate slides or safeties on the weapon. The drawback of this carry condition is the concern for safety as the weapon is ready at any given moment, which increases the chance of a potential negligent discharge in a gross motor skill situation.

Condition One (1) refers to magazine inserted, round in chamber, hammer cocked, and safety on. This method of carry is often referred to Cocked & Locked. The advantage of this carry method is that presentation of the firearm is just as quick as condition zero, but requires the fine motor skill of disengaging the safety before the weapon can be discharged. The extra step to ready the firearm at the draw reduces the chance of a negligent discharge.

Condition Two (2) refers to magazine inserted, round in chamber, hammer uncocked. This method of carry is popular with weapons that feature a double action / single action trigger. The long double action pull for the first shot means the user has to deliberately pull the trigger to fire the weapon. In a sense, this carry condition allows presentation of the weapon similar to Condition Zero, however the user must be accustomed to transitioning from a long double action pull to a single action pull.

Condition Three (3) refers to magazine inserted, empty chamber, hammer uncocked. This carry method is often referred to as Israeli Carry. The idea behind this method of carry is that it is inherently the safest as you will need to manipulate the slide to chamber a round before the weapon may be discharged. The drawback of this method of carry is the amount of time it takes to ready and present the weapon.

Condition Four (4) refers to a completely unloaded weapon. This carry condition is usually only used when holstered at a public range that allows holster carry, or at a firearms class before being instructed to load the weapon.

For some, not all carry conditions are available either due to agency policy, local laws, weapon configuration, or just user preference. The Quantum Mechanics holster was specifically designed to fill a specific role and re-acquire some of the weapon presentation speed that is lost when running a weapon in Condition Three without sacrificing any of the safety. The unique design of the holster allows the weapon to be released and have a round chambered with quick fluid motion using just one hand. To use this unique holster, the weapon retention button is pressed to release the weapon and allow the holster to swing out. The next movement is to push the weapon down into the holster itself which will cycle the slide and chamber a round. Lastly the weapon can then be lifted out of the holster and presented for immediate use. To reholster your weapon, simply clear your weapon to put it back into condition three; the holster is magnetized with a guide slot for your front sight for easy and quick indexing of your weapon before locking back in place.
Other key features of this holster system is its open bottom design allowing the use of any lights and lasers without modification or adjustment to the weapon or holster.

*Disclaimer* The Quantum Mechanics holster is only meant for Condition Three (3) carry. It is not intended to be used with Conditions Zero (0), Condition One (1), Condition Two (2).

"Overall, the design is ingenious, and the holster seems to be well-made. However, I am not convinced that there is a need to carry a Glock with the chamber empty, as the pistol is completely safe to carry with a loaded chamber.

For Airsoft, or if you have a requirement which requires carry in this condition, then my opinion is as follows.

The holster requires the trigger-finger to be inserted into the trigger-guard in order to release the holster from the locked position. This is fundamentally unsafe, although not so much if the gun is carried with an empty chamber, and if the shooter is trained to remove their finger from the trigger-guard upon release of the locking-mechanism. I do not anticipate that this practice will always be followed by those who are under stress in a deadly-force encounter. For Airsoft or speed shooting that requires shooters to chamber your first round after draw, this is perfect.

My second criticism concerns the fact that the use of the holster to load a cartridge into the chamber, causes the slide to return to battery from the full-recoil position while being impeded by the holster's grip on the slide. As you know, the slide of a self-loading firearm is designed to operate reliably by allowing the recoil-spring to return the slide to battery with full-force. Any impedance or slowing of the tension in said spring, can cause a jam or malfunction with some ammunition choices, or under such conditions as a lack of lubrication, or a buildup of dirt in the firearm.

Again, for speed shooting, when the firearm is well lubricated, or for Airsoft, this holster is perfect.

For target-shooting only purposes, where only one shooter is on the firing line at a time, and when a Safety Officer is present to monitor the shooter, I see no down side to the holster's use as-is.
