"This is a joy to use, hard to aim but you sorta just feel it out and it works. so satisfying to use, easy to load im game too. only problem i have is it uses a lot of gas and i have to fill it up mid game a lot.

"Works great! I had no problems out of the box and the gun feels great! It has some nice weight and density to it that many airsoft guns lack. The action works very well and the wood feels awesome, although my stock wobbled just the tiniest bit. Definitely a must have for wild west shootouts and well worth the price!

"Just received my new Mares leg made by A&K. It appears to be quite a handful as far as weight distribution is concerned. The fit and finish between the metal and the wood seem superb, haven't fired it yet but I hope the BB's do not bunch up and jam inside the mechanism like their A&K 1892 Winchester full size does. This time I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no performance trouble when cocked and fired. Of course there is a minimum of 2 yrs. of quality control to work things out. I've read the comments from other customers and the opinions were dubious at best. There were many of these Mares legs sold in Japan and China and they came in many beautiful finishes from Marushin and they went over $ 300.00 each. My complements to Evike for even having the guts to sell a model just like them. I love the Octagonal barrel, It reminds me of my prized springer KTW 1873 bow lever Winchester type that's just a teenie bit larger and gives me many hours of plinking fun. Wish me luck! I'll take it out first thing in the morning and test fire this baby. Thanks Evike!.

"Been looking for one of these "Mares leg" for a long time and cannot believe my eyes when I found them here!
Not your fire-power gun, but shoots strong and is a heck of fun to play with, highly recommended if you are looking for a 1873

"Recently got this little beauty and took it out for a test run. After toying with it for a couple weeks, it became apparent that this wasn't the most practical of airsoft sidearms. This didn't stop me from using it anyway. As a novelty item, this is perfect and I would sing the praises of it for hours to you. As a practical sidearm, it's more situational and for the memes if anything. Getting eliminations with this is going to provide a lot of laughs on and off the field.
Tip for using it: Convince everyone it is a pistol, because it is. Play a pistol only game, stay mobile, and take aim. Have a semi-auto or a revolver as a spare secondary.
Pros: Looks amazing and makes everyone smile (including you)
Accurate (No sights, but it's consistent)
Compact and can fit in fabric holsters
Jams are easy to fix (mostly just BBs falling into action, dump them out)
Cons: Lever is a bit stiff at first
Inconsistent gas leakage (sometimes will , sometimes won't) at least for mine
Finding opportunities to draw it and fire is difficult (esp indoors)
Lever can hurt fingers after a while (wrapped mine in paracord)
Overall, this is a very fun gun to use, but it does require a lot of practice and field knowledge to use effectively. Besides occasional leakage and jamming, it's a blast to use. Hopefully this in-depth review helped :)

"See Adam G.s review. Same experience. Except that my first Mares Leg had the internals blow out at me through the top.

"Again, I'm a bit puzzled by the high rating of this gun. I'm hoping most people haven't had the issues I'm having.
For starters, this is a (over) complicated and unforgiving design. Do not attempt to take this apart, and pray it doesn't need you to take it apart. Within moments of receiving the item the spring piece that keeps the loading gate door closed fell out the receiver. This was a big problem. The loading gate was now blocking the elevator mechanism that brings BBs up to the chamber. After much wasted time and effort, I got the spring back in, but it doesn't speak highly to the quality of the gun.
Speaking of that loading elevator- that is a great example of why this is such a bad design. BBs are fed from the loading tube onto a elevator, which uses basically gravity to keep the BB in place when it is raised up to the chamber then slammed into the barrel by the action moving forward. While I appreciate them paying homage to how the real guns work (if that is what they were doing) this is a horrendous idea when your are working with cheap metal and plastic. If one of those BBs happens to be out of place when you excitedly slam that lever back (Easy to do in the heat of the moment)... RIP Mare's Leg... This is why "Spin Cocking" is expressly banned with this gun.
Another issue is gas capacity. It's simply horrible. While this gun hasn't instantly developed a leak like it's big brother, the A&K 1892 (don't buy that either, it was actually worse) the capacity is painfully low. You will get maybe 10 shots off before loss of pressure. The gun hold twenty something BBs, so you can see the problem.
My final gripe, although minor, is that this is a Winchester 1892, not a M1873. Maybe that is on purpose on A&Ks part (to distance themselves from the M11982s horrible reputation) but it kind of bugged me.
Two stars because (for now at least) this gun is still working, unlike the M1892 that I bought for almost the same price. If you have to have one of the two, this is probably the one to get, but frankly I would pass on any A&K lever action guns until they make major changes.

"Honestly the mechanics of this gun are amazing, i can cycle shots pretty fast. The gas tank though... it is an abomination of engineering, the front is always frozen from the constant excessive gas leak. silicon oil on the seals and tightening the valve did nothing. this gun will last about 15 shots before running out. day one and it didn't even work. looks beautiful chambers nicely, but isn't even a good backyard plinker. i hope no one else just thinks the gas leak is just an occasional dud, cause its just crappy design. ill give it a star for all its other design though.
good display gun
gas tank leak makes it an unusable field gun.

"I had many many plans to bring this gun into the field as a western loadout. I had it for about 4 days and immediately sprung a leak. I bought all the tools I needed to fix it, but to no avail. I replaced the o-rings, re lubed the whole gun but nothing fixed it, not to mention the guns incredibly complicated internals. It's beautiful, feels good to hold, amazing to play with but thats about it. just a 170$ broken showpiece.
Pros: Hits hard when able to fire BB's
Looks and feels incredible.
Cons: It literally does not work
Do not buy if you plan on shooting BBs out of it.

"Runs out of gas after just 3 shots, doesn’t cycle a new round, wood varnish came splintered and chipped, doesn’t aim well, the lever doesn’t fully close half of the time and you just have to keep working it back and forth to work, the loading hatch on the side is loose and keeps swinging and rattling.
