ARES Full Metal SR25-M110 Airsoft AEG DMR (Color: Dark Earth)

"Great gun, easy pull and a quick response on the trigger. Huge amount of hop. Shoots like a laser. Easy quick change spring with a flathead. It's a big strong bolt to unscrew meaning you can throw a big spring in without worrying about it breaking. I would recommend getting the sr22 version. You always want maneuverable guns in airsoft. I customized mine... cut the barrel to 12 inches, cut the rail to about 6 inches. I have had mine for years. Ots my go to milsin event gun. If you want a good dmr and dont want to spend 800 bucks this gun is out of the box event ready.

Bought this gun about a week ago. First impression was amazing. The quality and care they put into the external parts is flawless. Not sure why everyone says it’s heavy, it’s definitely not. Especially for being all metal besides the pistol grip and buttstock, it’s surprisingly light but sturdy. Comes with a link through the ARES website for the user manual, it’s useless. Just use google/YouTube if you are unaware of what to do. Just like the other guy mentioned, it has proprietary magazines, meaning you can only use the Ares SR-25 mags for this gun. Bit of an annoyance but they work well in my experience. Comes with replacement flash hider that’s not plastic or bright orange so that was nice. Also, the scope mount is for 30mm scope tubes. Don’t know why they don’t tell you that, so I will.

Internal parts are definitely lacking, especially when you’re paying this price point. Out of the box it was shooting 350-365 with .2 bbs reaching out 80-100ft. Replaced the spring with an M130 and the motor with a Lonex Titan high torque long motor. It had good trigger response before, but with the new motor, it’s amazing. Old motor had a hard time pulling back the m130, new motor has no issue. It’s now shooting 415-420 with .25 bbs, and reaching out 150-175ft. MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE BARREL WHEN IT ARRIVES!!! Mine was super dirty, including the outer barrel where the inner barrel feeds into. I also purchased an Umbrella Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel with RHop so when that gets in I’ll give this review an update. Gun is set for safe/semi/auto, even though it doesn’t say auto on the lower. Kind of annoying that you have to pay an additional $60 for the Area electronic gearbox programmer just to set the gun to safe/semi. You can also set it for safe/semi/burst or safe/burst/auto. But for most fields near me and Milsim events, DMR’s are restricted to safe/semi only.

Pros:
Amazing exterior features
Light considering it’s 95% metal
Looks/feels amazing in your hands

Cons:
Internal parts need upgrading

All in all, despite the upgrades that was needed for a gun that was already over $500, I love it. Gets 4/5 stars only because of the needed upgrades on an already expensive gun. If you have the coin and love the M110 platform, this is the gun for you.

This rifles externals are nothing short of superb, all KAC trades, full metal and poly right where the real version would be. I get compliments all the time on the field, a real eye catching piece.

Pros:
-Full metal exterior, hefty but quality build.
-crisp fire selector switch, three modes, safe-fire-full auto.
-FCS gearbox, this is both good and bad, it's a V2 gear box with proprietary parts and so forth proprietary magazines.
-Comes with KAC style scope mount, really completes the build with right scope.
-comes with 120rd mid cap mag.
-COA included and individual build serial No.

Cons:
-Cost(its licensed by KAC, what did you expect?)
-FCS gearbox is mediocre but can be upgraded and locked into two fire modes only via sold separately control module.
-barrel and hop system is barely passable, (first thing i upgraded).
-Heavy Rifle, get used to it, learn to love it.
-Proprietary Mags(WILL NOT WORK WITH OTHER SR25-AR10 STYLE MAGS).
-Basically needs a full internal overhaul to be a real contender on the field, its okay out of box but FPS is lacking and hop system accuracy all over the place.

Closing thoughts/ Recommendations:
It may seem that the cons outweigh the pros but hear me out, if you have experience with upgrading, disposable cash or a V2 HPA system, this would be not only a beautiful rifle but a very good DMR.
I bought 4 mags, upgraded the barrel and installed an Rhop, had the gearbox completely reworked for High FPS(500) and locked it into semi fire only.

It's a good rifle, GET U ONE!
