"REVIEW AFTER ONE YEAR!

This gun is great. I give it a 4.5/5 and round it up to 5/5. I have used it for almost every weekend for one year and I have enjoyed it very much. Nothing internally or mechanically has broken and I have never felt that I needed to upgrade anything.

I'm not gonna lie, it's price made me very skeptical and didn't think it would perform well, but i am really impressed. Out of the box it chronos low enough to use at pointblank but it also performs well at medium to long range (20-30 yards). The high-cap mags have lasted a long time and have always fed perfectly. I hardly see any bb drop off when I have the hop up set perfectly and when my scope is calibrated properly the gun is very accurate. I just got the latest Lancer M4 ($250) but still think the 552 has a better rate of fire and accuracy. I praise this gun as a lover of the 552 irl but I'll admit their are some cons.

This gun is meant for people like me, people who want a 552. This gun might not appeal to an airsofter. It's not very customizable and parts are hard to find. The full metal version puts a lot of strain on the plastic stock and grip and after 7 months of use, the stock broke off and I had to reattach it with JB weld. The gun is also so front heavy it has caused the grip to start shaking. There is also a tiny issue with the electronic blow back where when the battery gets low, the semiautomatic will jam and you have to switch it to full auto then it works again.

But when you consider the price to performance this gun is amazing! $150-$200 for a reliable gun with no mechanical issues so far is AMAZING! You just have to compromise the lack of customization and the stock issue.

"EBB is solid on this replica. Mag feels like a happy meal toy.
Solid construction and feels like a JG FAL.

"Got the longer barrel of this gun not so long ago. It’s feels and looks great, it is a bit heavy but I like that. It’s definitely sturdy but the plastic hand guard makes me feel as if dropping it hard once while make the plastic cover pop off but I’ve dropped it multiple times already and it’s still holding off great. It is a type of gun that you have to already appreciate the real thing before getting the replica but it looks mean enough to swing around I love it. As a special snowflake that refused to get an M4, AK, or MP I love it.

"This is the first gun I ever ordered from Evike, though not my very very first gun I ever bought (that would be an LCT Krinkov). Compared to the LCT I bought from the local shop, this SG552 definitely reflects its price point, lol. Pretty good deal if you can get it on sale, but no way is the quality 'there' for a $200 gun. The EBB is pretty cool, but sometimes it gets 'stuck' and the ejection port where the hop-up is located doesn't return to the 'closed' position.
The ""hi-cap""" included is more like a wannabe midcap, lol. Very small and doesn't hold very many BBs at all.
The battery is located in the front handguard, and it's annoying to disassemble the handguard the first time but after doing it a few times, it gets 'worn in' and easier to disassemble. You will need a very very small 2s (7.4v) LiPo battery, like around a 350mAh or 450mAh Tiny Whoop FPV drone 'gumstick' style battery. There is just not very much space at all to hold any bigger battery.
Overall, would I buy it again? Eh, not at full price. Maybe on sale price, yeah. It's just not one of my favorite guns; while the very first LCT AK I bought is still one of my favorites. Simply a difference in pricepoint vs. quality.

"Anyone who's considering a EBB AEG short barrel rifle, this thing is the way to go for the price. Not only that the package came with all the things included in the description, it also came with a 8.4V battery stick with a charger. However, I'll explain why its also a negative.

The magazine is the Matrix 220 round "hi-cap" plastic-as-a-toy. It's pretty darn small, and fragile that the metal gun itself could break it if you club against it. It functions decently after firing a few dozen shots however, you need to wind the damn thing constantly to get it to continuously fire. Which was why I quote "hi-cap", this mag is smaller than most SIG magazines.

Everything in this gun functions as intended, the gun fired pretty decently and the EBB feature is pretty neat. The folding stock is also a nice thing. Because once it folds, stock is long enough where you can also hold around the area where the magazine and the stock sort of like a "foregrip".
Pros
Metal Receiver
Good Polymer Pistol Grip
Folding Stock
EBB
RIS

Now for the sad part, accessing the battery. And I'm not sure if this is the only issue with RIS versions of the 552, accessing the battery is pretty tough to get into. The metal RIS are tight, and opening them may take some strength to disassemble and put back together. *ahem* battery! The Included 8.4V stick is a little too large for the upper RIS to close back. So what I did is retrofitted myself with cloth straps and clips to get the battery to "fit" in the compartment. It could be an issue with mines, but sadly after trying multiple ways to tightly and carefully place the battery, I knew that the battery is slightly too big for the upper receiver. So I highly suggest getting a 7.4V LiPo-Tamiya stick to fit.

Cons
Included battery is a little too large for the RIS to fit
Magazine can be fragile under abuse
Battery compartment is tough to access (possibly for Metal RIS versions)

Overall, a great gun. I definitely would recommend if one would go for realism for the price, the metal parts and EBB function. I didn't mind the battery issue since I had other airsoft guns and batteries. I fitted this with a Aim Sports Foregrip and Panorama Red Dot, and it worked like a charm.

"This is a really sturdy gun, I bought the metal receiver w/ quad rail, it's easy to set up (even though the manual is badly worded) but it shoots very well, accuratley and is comfortable to hold. it's an AEG rifle, it does it job well.

Cons......

1. The magazine it comes with doesnt feel high quality, but that can be fixed by buying new mags.

2. The battery is a HUGE pain to put in since it's in the hand rail, putting the handrail back over with the battery in it is a CHORE and takes a lot of strength to assemble again, but ill just put it as it needs a little more "wear" to it before it gets easier since I bought it brand new.

"Note:
* The manual recommends 8.4v and the gun comes with an 8.4v NiMH, whereas Evike recommends 7.4v LiPo. This is fine; they have tested it. I also had it cron tested with a 7.4v battery and it fired 0.25g @ 325fps. The gun is much lighter with LiPo anyways, so I recommend spending the extra $20-$30 for a better battery.
* To get the rail on top to be solid and not wobble requires putting a lot of torque into the locking bolt.

Pros:
* Very light
* Very good-looking
* The rails on the side and bottom can be easily removed to make the weapon even lighter if that's your thing

Cons:
* Makes an ugly sound when firing
* The magazine it comes with isn't very good, and so you will want to upgrade
* The manual is not very detailed and has poorly written English

All in all a pretty decent weapon. Good times and great fun without any modding and just a few upgrades.

"I bought this gun from a local airsoft shop and have had it for a couple of months now. It feels great and snappy, lightweight and mobile. Pretty accurate from mid-range.

Pros:
Lightweight
Fast ROF w/9.6v - decent with 8.4v
Solid build for polymer
Nice iron sights
Sounds good

Cons:
Mag is cheap (get mid-caps like the mag100)
Front wiring can get caught and possibly tear

"It said "no battery included" but they sent a battery with it that DOESN'T fit smh why would they do that i almost broke it thinking it was the battery for this model. Maybe clarify better in the description. Gun is super cool waiting on right battery to get some shots in

"The externals on this gun are nice (I bought the full metal w/ quad rail) but when I got mine, the wires weren't properly inserted, which caused one of them to get ripped open by the sector gear. Another wire wasn't soldered on properly, and I was able to simply pull it out of the solder joint. The screws for attaching the fire selectors to the gearbox stripped after unscrewing them once, so I had to use wider screws to hold them in. The gearbox was also very overshimmed and sounded like a dying cat when shooting.

However, after reshimming the gearbox and rewiring with a WARFET, the gun shoots pretty well. With everything else stock, and on a G&G green hop rubber, I was hopping 0.25g bb's between 310-330fps.

Side notes: There's a tiny bit of wobble on the upper rail, I just used a few tiny rubber washers to fix that. Also, this gun uses a version 3 gearbox, but it doesn't use the motor cage, and the motor has to be adjusted through the motor grip. This gun is also OEM'd by JG.

Tl;dr: If you're gonna open it up, then go for it. If you aren't going to open it up, then maybe not.
