"I have this gun and recently Bought the Classic Army version as well, the Cyma is FAR better, and with the exception of handguard is more period correct. that aside, the mosfet is the weak point. but just replace it when it goes, the hop up isnt great either, those two things are the only complaints. the rifle has lasted me well for over 2 years and I regret not just buying a second, because the amount of crap I have to do to the CA definitely tacked on a lot of extra cash I want intending on paying, everything cyma has been putting out in the last 5 yrs is not only priced well, but awesome to tech on. I have 3 cyma M4s and all are upgraded beyond stock but I used them all stock for a good while with great results. I paid considerably more for the CA and the X series gearbox is not nearly comparable. Ill be posting a very honest review on that as well.

"Outstanding gun. It hits up to 120 ft consistently. When you start going farther like 150 you hit about 60% of your shots. The hop up works great at getting your groups closer together. The mag that comes with is works and feeds great, the other mid cap mags I bought also work great. The fire rate is pretty good out of the box. Overall I'm very happy with it and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

"This gun does perform really well and looks really cool with the 20 round mag for M4/M16. It’s great for beginners!

"So i bought this replica on a whim as a backup gun, and now it has wound up being my main. I purchased a third party handguard to more closely resemble the original XM177/Colt M723, and wound up doing a Blood Diamond/black hawk down build, and out the box, this thing is absolutely awesome! Rate of fire is super high on my 11.1 v, its dummy accurate out of the box, and not to mention, the metal is fair and sturdy for the price. Scoop it up as soon as you can, I got my replica for 180, and due to inflation this, and many other airsoft products have went up in price, but with that said, this is a pretty awesome and fine addition to any collector's repertoire!

"Got this gun and it is absolutely fantastic. Fire rate is a bit slow but that’s fine. MOSFET is absolutely beautiful and works well. I noticed the price jumped to $220 after I got it for $185. Don’t know if I would spend that much for this but you do you.

"I was very surprised by this rifle. I’ve owned CYMA AKs before and have always liked them. Been dying to get an XM177 for a long time and got this one on a whim. CYMAs gearboxes are some of the best affordable stock gearboxes I’ve ever seen. My absolute favorite features are a quality and functioning bolt and release. Also it has a mosfet and is wired to deans. I’ve never seen a gun wired to deans out of the box, this was a huge relief I’m tired of changing plugs. The gun is very period accurate aside from the receiver markings and hand guard.
If you want a Vietnam/Cold War era gun that’s not an m16a1 get this.
Pros:
Great stock gearbox
Period accurate
Sturdy
HAS A MOSFET I mean what gun under 200 has a mosfet??
Cons:
Slight wobble in stock
Mediocre ROF but it’s a 170 gun so
Handguard is a little inaccurate to the real original version, but it’s close enough.

"im a beginer and this is the gun i needed. the body is full metal, and there is no wobble on the recievers or barrel. handguards arent true to the xm but i will look past it. quick change spring is very easy to do. shoots good and has a light trigger pull. slight wobble with mag and stock. the gun looks good a i do reccomend it.

"After using it in a two day milsim event, here are my impressions of the XM177E2. This is a very well constructed gun. The weight is not bad especially for a full metal gun. No wobble except for the collapsing stock but it's minimal. It's a two position stock like the original gun, but it isn't an issue for me at least. This gun is not an accurate replica as the handguard is an M4 style as the it is front wired. Due to possible trademark issues, the gun comes with BAMF markings. The included mosfet was a nice addition, allowing for a smooth trigger response especially in semi-auto. When put to the chronograph, I got an FPS of around 395 with .25g BBs using a 9.6 NiMH battery. Be warned, this may mean your gun will be considered "hot" at most fields. I recommend using .28 or higher BBs. Range and accuracy is quite impressive, the hop-up does a great job even stock. I use mid caps and had no issues with feeding in full or semi auto.
Quick side note: it's nice to see an XM177 back on the market again as it seems Classic Army and
G&P don't plan on releasing their models anytime soon.
Quick pro list
- Full metal with solid construction
- Mosfet included
- Excellent range and accuracy
- Excellent product for the price
Quick con list
- Markings are meh
- Not a completely accurate replica of the XM177
To sum up, this an excellent rifle. The performance, given the price point, is on par with some of the more expensive guns out there. While not completely accurate, it is still a nice replica. I highly recommend this gun to anyone looking for an XM177 or non-M4 AR15 carbine variant.

"An excellent option in a world where Classic Army and GP are chronically sold-out across the web. Save for the cringeworthy BAMF proofmarks, the gun is correctly scaled for real-steel parts and repro "skinny" handguards fit it perfectly but do mean you need a LiPo to be able to run it. Hits hard and hits dead-on out of the box, and with Troy Industries' SOG sling it looks mean and distinctive for all your 'Nam needs.

"First off let me say that this gun has been looooong overdue. The classic army XM177 (which is never in stock because classic army seems like they are allergic to making airsoft guns) and the G&P version (which has also been out of stock for years) were the only options before CYMA decided to bless us with their take on this beauty and it is a damn good, BUT there are a couple things I need to address for everybody interested in purchasing this
1. It DOES come with the Moderator flash hider. It’s made of metal and it is glorious. Also, it is not painted Orange and only has a small Orange ring on the tip that is pinned in place and easily removable.
2. The metal lower receiver is, unfortunately, the same as the rest of the CYMA M4/M-16 line. It’s well built and solid but it has those terribly cheesy trademarks engraved on both sides of it (same ones as in the picture). They look so out of place on this rifle and I wish that CYMA just left the receiver blank.
3. Yes the hand guard is not correct for an XM177, but it gets a pass because that’s where the battery goes and so you need the extra space of the M4 style grips. Everything else looks period correct and is amazing and very well built.
That’s pretty much it. performance is very good as well but I think you need atleast a 7.4 lipo because it sounded a little sluggish with my 9.6 NIHM, but that could’ve just been my battery. Accuracy was very nice as well with .25’s and I was easily able to hit a man sized target out to about 120 ft. Overall do not hesitate to buy this, especially if you’ve been waiting for an XM177. Lord knows if we’ll ever see another if this goes out of stock.

"I love the gun, it is an amazing fun gun to shoot with and go airsofting with, love everything about it, the hop up, the ma, the fps, the weight, everthing or almost everything. the only thing im confused about is that i cant seem to get the wire out to detact the top and bottom frame, but i am sure i can figure that out soon, amazing gun, would recommend.

"Pretty decent gun, overall. Only issue is CYMA went cheap on the MOSFET so I had to replace it.

"Excellent quality of external build. But my complaint is concerning the MOSFET trigger. After one use the microswitch contact broke and the replica would fire sporadically even in safe. Poor build quality on the electronics. I planned on replacing it anyway with an aster or something but disappointed that it failed almost immediately. Other than that external quality is nice.
