Development of an electric-motor driven air compressor led to the 1992 production of the world's first AEG, or Automatic Electric Gun. Modeling their first AEG after the French FAMAS was exactly what Marui needed. The real FAMAS uses a full polymer body that allowed them to fit the Version 1 gearbox while maintaining realism and complying with Japan's replica gun regulations. The successful design remains fundamentally unchanged from what it was the 90's, being the foundation of all AEGs still produced.
The FAMAS SV is a unique version of the FAMAS by removing certain features from the original F1 rifle. These redesigned features include the removal of the integrated bipod for a more slimline profile, removal of the grenade launcher gas cut-off lever, grenade launcher collar and barrel ribbing, and complete knuckle guard for your firing hand.

About FAMAS Saint-tienne, the hometown of MAS (Manufacture d'armes de Saint-tienne) has been well known in France as the center of arms since the Middle Ages when swords and knives were the forefront of military weapons. Fast forward to modern day and Saint-tienne is still home to the manufacturing of the French standard issue arms. The FAMAS (F usil d'A ssaut de la M anufacture d'A rmes de S aint-tienne, in English "Assault Rifle from the Saint-tienne Weapon Factory") is the standard issue infantry rifle of the French military. This unique combat rifle is setup in the bullpup configuration to put the action of the weapon behind the trigger; this allows for a standard length or longer barrel to be used while still keeping the overall length and profile of the weapon down to a minimum.

" The TM Famas is the OG, the one that started it all, the first AEG ever made(technically the F1 version but they're the same rifle mechanically)! I started airsofting a long time ago (2005ish) around when I was in middle school and this gun was very very hard to find back then. I never got the chance to get one growing up but never stopped wanting one. My expectations for this gun have always been very high and it didn't disappoint at all. You can expect the high standard of overall quality Tokyo Marui is known for. The overall fit and finish are superb and the gun has a fantastic solid weight and feel to it. Its also incredibly well balanced, with the full metal outer barrel and the hefty gearbox weight at the rear the rifle feels properly weighted. The solid rubber buttplate is awesome for grip on the shoulder, the foregrip is super natural as is the pistol grip and the safety. Its very accurate out of the box and has a surprisingly great rate of fire in full auto. I ended up running a 7.4 lipo battery which seems perfect for it. Mine chronoed at 300fps on the dot with .23s and the 7.4 lipo which I found to be perfect for playing in doors. my only real complaint is the included standard mag just doesn't feed well, its incredibly inconsistent which is frustrating, buy a couple of high caps and never look back. Don't let the idea of a polymer body scare you away, the real one has a polymer body too. The gun feels solid, its doesn't feel hollow, cheap or thin.
