"I've had the Tokyo Marui version of this pistol. In fact I own 2 already and just bought this one. My other ones I have owned for over 15 years and they still work just as good as the day I got them. They are extremely accurate and VERY consistent on every single shot. I would recommend using .25s in it as they are more accurate with the heavier weight.

About 13 years ago the battery died and I took it apart and soldered the connectors of the battery to the leads of a 750MAH 7.4v Lipo. Then drilled a small hole in the ejection port of the slide and ran the wire through and taped the battery to the pistol grip. It's been there ever since and still to this day works beautifully.

On second thought, don't buy these as I want to be one of the only ones that have such an amazing unique and reliable airsoft pistol.

"I hope to give a pretty detailed review of this aep. $100 plus extras is a real investment.
Overview:

The Umarex USP AEP is a great option for a relatively low power, low maintenance, airsoft pistol for backyard shooting, indoor play, or as a complement to your AEG in casual outdoor play. It's sturdy, reliable, and easily integrated into your kit.

The AEP:

Its full metal slide and polymer lower are well crafted. The slide does not move, and is instead essentially the cover for the hop up, battery compartment, and barrel of the gun. The hop up is easy to adjust and the battery is ejected with the assistance of a lever, making for an easy to use internal structure.

The lower is made of plastic, but is well made and feels durable. It comes with the detachable rail on the bottom of the frame. It’s a nice touch but I don’t know what I would attach to it. At least it looks cool.

The external controls are fine. The safety/fire selector switch feels a little cheap and loose but is good enough for me. The mag release is in an unusual spot on the trigger guard, the USP is an interesting design! Trigger feels good.

I typically chrono in at around 205-210 with .2 gram BBs. I have not used anything heavier than a .2, because I feel as if the performance dip from decreased FPS would outweigh any potential accuracy benefits. Its just not that strong of an AEP.

The AEP is great for indoor play where FPS limits might keep you from using your AEG. The limited range isn’t as much of an issue with indoor play, and the AEP performs very well in that environment where it is more evenly matched to what else is on the field.

For outdoor play, it is not something you would want to rely on for your main airsoft gun. A modified AEP or a gas blowback airsoft gun would be more of what you want for that type of thing. I don’t play milsim but it probably wont stand up to ranged milsim play. I play at a field that has a mix of indoor and outdoor play areas as well as urban terrain and the USP AEP works well in tandem with my more powerful AEG to deal with CQB and ranged engagements as a team.

The full auto mode is fun to mag dump from time to time, but because the mag cap is 29 BBs, it is not something you’d want to use extensively on the field.

There’s also some novelty about it being a USP. It’s a neat model and you don’t see them often on the field.

The battery:

The thing about the battery is that it is a niche product. A few AEPs use this battery, but it’s not very common. It has a custom plug type, and is unable to integrate into my battery balance charger. Because I cannot decharge/balance the battery, I have almost no expectation of the battery to be robust and long lasting. I typically just charge them before every time I play. I have a few batteries and I think buying more than one is a good idea, especially since they wont last very long when you charge on top of charge them.

Luckily, the batteries are small so you can probably fit an extra one in your pocket or on your kit. They are easily replaceable on the field.

They are NiMH so expect them to slowly lose charge over time. Be careful with them and store them in a cool place, as warm conditions will lessen the battery life.

Unfortunately the charger is a drawback. Like I said, it’s a custom plug type and there is only like 2 or 3 models on the market, none especially good. Availability seems to be an issue also. I found a TM charger on another website that works well enough. You need to be careful not to buy the wrong charger.

The magazines:

A huge plus is the mags. Its great to not have to worry about gas leaks or maintenance with them, and since they are a fraction of the size of a GBB mag, you can store many more of them in your kit. I typically have a double pistol mag pouch on my belt and I can fix 6 mags in there. It does not have an extended or high-capacity mag option but makes up for it because you can take many more mags on the field.

Filling them is easy and I find them to be high quality.

Holsters/kit:

If you chose to remove the rail on the frame of the AEP, it can fit into any full size USP holster. You can spring for a nice one from your favorite holster company, but I went with some cheaper options. Sometimes I take the rail off and run with a cheap retention holster by Amomax when I am feeling a lower profile kit. But usually I have the rail on there just because it looks cool, and use my condor tornado leg holster, another affordable and adjustable option that can fit almost any pistol.

So it just depends on how you want to configure the rail. Have the rail off and use a USP holster or keep the rail on and use an adjustable option you can use with other pistols or AEPs.

In review:

This AEP is a great starter AEP but just know what to realistically expect! I am very happy with it. I hope this helps.

"This gun is awesome! It works in the coldest weather and is very accurate. It shoots as far as my gas pistols. I think this is the hidden gem of airsoft. Only downside is the mags are not interchangeable with with other cyma or tm aeps, and there is no 100 round mag. If I bought this pistol first I would not have gotten any others. Maybe.
